Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Ayr United both had to settle for a point after a goalless First Division draw in the Highlands.

Robert Eagle almost capitalised on an error by Ayr goalkeeper Craig Samson but Kevin James made a crucial block.

The home side claimed unsuccessfully for a penalty early in the second half when Richie Foran went down in the box.

As the match petered out, Dani Sanchez came close with an 18-yard effort at the Ayr goal.
