Cop Attacks Man for Facebooking His Wife
According to Your4State.com, Lieutenant John Sherman, while off-duty, confronted Larry "Tike" Murphy about the messages last Thursday. After a heated exchange, Sherman allegedly punched Murphy in the face and back, and ripped his shirt (and right by the Martinsburg Church of Christ, no less). As a result, Sherman was placed on administrative leave and charged with battery. According to court documents, Sherman "did not believe it was right that another man was communicating with his wife by Internet-sending some of the things he was sending to her."
Sherman posted bond Monday, and the Martinsburg Police Department says it has launched an administrative investigation into the attack. At the very least, Sherman's lost some friends, since reports say the men's wives are (or were) best friends. At the most, he's lost a career, and maybe a wife, too. [From: Your4State.com]

I am going through the same thing. My wife of 11 years and 6 children met someone on Facebook/Yahoo Instant Messenger and now wants a divorce and wants to be with this guy she met. Who knows if it is even a guy or a prisoner at a Mental Hospital. Oh and she is pregnant with my 7th child so I think its mine...and she won't tell me why or how come she feels the need to ruin a family and run away with someone she doesnt even know.
I can relate to the Cop in every way. I'd do the same as the Cop ! The wife is to blame for this...why should her husband be forced to choose? Our society is messed up. Women are cheating on their spouses in record numbers. Soldiers go to war and come back to a woman that has broken her vows of marriage while our soldiers have been fighting for freedoms. Women need to wake up ! Life is not always about screwing ! Have a heart !

since more men cheat then women, does that mean we should hold every member of your gender responsible for every ill that a male does? especially since in both your case and this cop's it was the woman who did wrong, not the guy. he didn't make you any promises. though from the woman bashing in your post, i don't blame your wife for running as fast as she can!

Dude, I sympathize but what is he giving her that you aren't? If it's only physical, which is what it sounds like from your next-to-last sentence, then you have no excuse. There are things you can get to, ah, "improve" your performance. To put it bluntly, if you aren't supplying the salami, don't be surprised when she starts shopping at another deli. On the other hand, if you're just an a-hole, there's no fix for that. Sorry.

Hmm, everyday this cop deals with people who state that they "lost it" because their spouse cheated or was "talking" to someone on the computer. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.... NO EXCUSES!!! Cop did the crime and cop should do the time.

Any state or federal empoyee that commits a crime should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and the penalties should be more excessive in these cases. Also, all benifits should be lost upon conviticion.

Yep. I know who that Cop beat up. The dude works in the Prison next door to the Jail. He tries to sleep with every female he can. Married or not. He doesn't care. The guy deserves to get beat up by every husband whose wives, girlfriends, or lil' girls he tries or suceeds in bedding/flirting with. I say they should give that cop a medal for taking care of the filth that was trying to bed his wife!!!

I find it hard to believe that this is becoming more prevelant in our society. We are such an accepting society. We accept EVERYTHING ! The morals and beliefs of everything that is wrong has become so acceptable, a wife cheats on a cop online and people praise the woman. Kristie I think you are assinine ! That statement you make says that you are justifying a woman doing what she is doing because she shouldn't feel tied down. Its amazing how people give their opinions without knowing particular people or incidents...
Don't Judge ! Do what is Right ! Do not jeopardize your Marriage/Relationship from an online experience, be mature and break up and do your thing After you are free from the person...do not be Selfish, its not fair to the person or families that are involved. Have morals and standards !
