Wow, what a nightmare for his family. This isn't one of those things you wake up from and say, "oh, what a terrible dream." For all of you perfect people out there who have never had any problems with addiction, keep your comments to yourself. This situation shows that no one is immune from the snares of drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, all of which are deadly. It sounds like Cameron needs to be in a long-term rehab facility for about a year, not a pleasant hotel room. Of course, if he doesn't want sobriety and the wonderful life it gives you, then it won't matter and if he gets busted again, then he should do jail time, but putting him in a nice hotel doesn't sound like a reality byte to me. Jail is not the place for addicts, but neither is a cushy hotel. My prayers go out to Michael Douglas and his ex-wife, family members.

I totally agree with you catlady, this is a nightmare for his family, herion addiction is horrid & he should be in a rehabilitation clinic, however, his girlfriend was doing him no favors by bringing the drug to jail for him- she's just an enabler, it's very sad & I hope Cameron gets the help he needs & he won't while he's in jail. Did he steal or kill anyone-no, he has an addiction & it should be addressesd as such. His family is well off & that is a plus for him. They can put him in a facility that can really help him. Otherwise, without professional help, after he is released from jail, he will go back to his old ways, possibly to his own demise. My prayers go out to him & his family.

didn't hurt or kill anyone? For an addict, I'd give them a second chance, but him? This scourge on society was a dealer!!! How many did he start on their addictions? How many will die or be in poor health because of him? How much of our tax paying dollars will be wasted on this slime? Bullets are cheap, and in a case like his, should be used. What if it was your little girl that became a junkie thanks to him? Or your happy, playful son that loses interest in life and commits suicide thanks to the meth this guy gave him. Or how about your mom being killed in a car accident by some addict behind another wheel? There is no forgiveness for him nor people like him. Let's all embrace "RESPONSIBLITY FOR ONE'S OWN ACTIONS", and purge our society of it's filth.

Bless his heart. He really needs some serious help and so does his girlfriend. No way I would do that for my husband even.
Get some help soon Cameron. The life your leading is a dead end.

Why isn't he in jail? Why does he get to wait at his hotel instead of jail while he waits for his hearing? This is an addict that they should be playing hard-ball with. Maybe it would make more of an impression if he were looking out from behind bars.

Obviously, you've never dealt with an addict or addicted loved one. May your fate bless you with one so you can see what it is like for the family and friends. Or, perhaps you've never experienced loving a child/family member to have a clue what these people are going through. The folks who belong in jail are the ones behind the crimes - the ones who provide the drugs for sale/resale in the first place. And the person who turned this kid on in the first place deserves 40 lashes, a 10 mile walk through Death Valley in July or August to reflect on all the lives he/she destroyed to make money. You, Miss Marie, need a crash course in understanding the problem since you obviously lack empathy. Before you get your panties in a wad, I do not say that his crimes should go unpunished but right now what he needs is intervention, not jail and certainly not a cushy hotel room. If he is able to "get it", then is the time to address the crimes in an appropriate manner and if jail is warranted at that time, then he should serve his full sentence. But to just put an addict into a prison cell is to seal his fate and anyone else in his shoes. Then our judicial system becomes the criminal.

I totally agree with you Marie. This guy is dealer and as such should be behind bars, as would any regular citizen. Because Dad is a celebrity he gets
to wait in a fancy hotel with private security, this
is a glaring example of a different set of laws for the rich and powerful. Shameful on so many levels.
This man has been in rehab before and it's not helped him. Put him behind bars before he gets someone else hooked

This like so many other AOL stories make no sense. A "private security company" and "guard" do not arrest people. Or did they turn the losers in? The story claims at the beginning he was in "jail" but then reports "the hotel". WTF! This POS is looking at serving time with his priors. He already was on borrowed time only because of expensive lawyers in the past. The judge should now teach him and his family a lesson so he doesn't kill himself.

Do you really think rehab is right for him? He has done this before and was busted before. Do you really think his family didn't know about his addiction? You need to educate yourself. He is not a victim, he is a criminal. He committed a crime. Let's see if your compassion exists if he slits the throat of your child because he or she had a dollar in their pocket and was walking by Cameron's halfway house. Think about it. An addict goes to any extreme. Whether the Betty Ford clinic, Haseldon or the inner city hospital it only works if the addict wants it too.

Catlady get real "the folks who belong in jail are the ones behind the crimes" this is not a drug addict caught with his personal stash for recreational use! He was busted by DEA with a large quantity. What did you think he was going to do with it? He was going to sell it to whoever (kids included)to make more money and supply his habit. Do the time first then see if he really wants rehab after he gets out. You have it all backwards!

It sounds like he needs a rehab hospital more than anything. His addiction is very sad just as it is for anyone who is addicted to drugs or alcohol. Hope he gets the help he needs. No matter who he is, he is still someone's child even at 30.
