(Aug. 10) -- Martin Alvey, 90, of Tualatin, Ore., has been legally blind for a couple years because of macular degeneration, a disease that erodes a person's vision over time. But after a recent medical emergency, Alvey says his vision has been restored, according to KATU-TV in Portland.
Alvey told the TV station he called 911 in the middle of the night after feeling dizzy. Because of his eye disease, he can't see objects more than about a foot away, but as he waited at the hospital to see a doctor, he realized his sight had improved.

"I haven't been back to sleep since, and I feel great ... because I've never had it so good as I have it now," an emotional Alvey said.
Alvey planned to follow up with his doctor to see if the return of his sight can be explained, the TV station reported. Read KATU's full story.

from the way the guy described his previous eye sight problems, it does not sound like he had macular degeneration: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macular_degeneration

Johnfurrjr SAYS:'Done a little research on this after seeing the story. Found that there are treatments, but did not find a single incidence of this disease being medically reversed...." I agree. macular degeneration causes blind spots, either from the center growing outward, or tunnel vision, or distorted vision that prevents a person from seeing things in the correct shape, as if pulled like images on silly putty. if he had that, he would not be able to correct it and see with a magnifying glass, he would need very complex optics to correct his eyesight. Perhaps he had cataracts, or some other type of focus problem, and simply referred to his imparment with the wrong technical term? Whatever the case, I hope his doctors will investigate this thoroughly, to learn all they can from the improvement in his eyesight.

Idiot809897 SAYS:"... 13 billion, are you kidding me...." That you for posting. You are now our new poster child for what happens when religious fanatics homeschool their own children. Why dont you get off the computers and network created by scientists and engineers, and go use the one described in the bible?

KDCgenius...... 13 billion, are you kidding me. You dumb ass, they dont have a clue what happened 1,000 years ago let alone 13 billion. They THINK they know, they know what they would have liked to have happened 13 billion years ago but the FACT is they dont have a clue. They dont have enough evidence to get Stevie Wonder convicted of J-walking. They dont know why dinosaures went away, they cant prove evolution, they have never once found a creature that was evolving into another creature. NEVER, not once. Notice all those bones that are supposidly pre-human, see how they are different colors, thats because the parts that are missing have been filled in with someones imagnation and clay. It's all bullshit, we didnt come from monkeys. We didn't crawl out of the sea 5 billion years ago. Unless your looking for grant money, then I guess it's o.k.

Johnfurrjr 08:05 PMAug 11 2009 Done a little research on this after seeing the story. Found that there are treatments, but did not find a single incidence of this disease being medically reversed. For me, I believe he is right in thanking God for a miracle. However I do not believe in these TV Evangelists that claim God's healing through them. I personally know a lady that was suppose to be an brain-dead invalid due to a severe car accident. She was prayed for by people at her church. Today she has 0 problems and had a child a couple of years after the wreck. These are two people who truly have Miracles because Medicine alone could NOT have restored their health. Great to hear good news with so much bad news. ------------So what do you call it when an otherwise healthy person contracts a terrible disease and dies within months? "Shit happens" works both ways!!!!
