WASHINGTON (Aug. 2) -- Officers with the U.S. Marshals Service have seized all skin sanitizers and skin protectants, including ingredients and components, at Clarcon Biological Chemistry Laboratory's facility in Roy, Utah, the Food and Drug Administration said.
The FDA also warned the public Saturday not to use any Clarcon products because they contain harmful bacteria and are promoted as antimicrobial agents that claim to treat open wounds, damaged skin, and protect against various infectious diseases. No cases have been reported to the FDA.

Clarcon voluntarily recalled the affected products, marketed under several different brand names, in June 2009, following an FDA inspection that revealed high levels of potentially disease-causing bacteria in the products.
The inspection also uncovered serious deviations from the FDA's regulations, including poor practices that permitted the contamination. The FDA's seizure of these products, along with their ingredients, occurred after Clarcon did not agree to promptly destroy them. The FDA said it is protecting the public by preventing these products from entering the marketplace.
"The FDA is committed to taking enforcement action against firms that do not manufacture drugs in accordance with our current good manufacturing practice requirements," said Deborah M. Autor, director of the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research Office of Compliance.
Clarcon produced and distributed over 800,000 bottles of these products in multiple regions of the country since 2007. Consumers should not use any Clarcon products and should dispose of them in their household trash.
Analyses of several samples of the topical antimicrobial skin sanitizer and skin protectant products revealed high levels of various bacteria. Some of these bacteria can cause opportunistic infections of the skin and underlying tissues. Such infections may need medical or surgical attention and may result in permanent damage, the FDA said.

Ckathy2009, it was Louis the 16th not the 14th who was beheaded in the French Revolution. Although the monarch was far removed from the French people, the French revolution was one of the bloodiest revolutions on Earth (except for the Communist led Russian revolution which also had little to do with the will of the Russian people and a lot to do with the followers of Karl Marx, --Communists who made it their life's work to go around overthrowing the governments of Europe and of course Russia. Nicholas, Alexandra, their 4 daughters and son were all brutally murdered by godless Communists--almost all of whom had come from someplace other than Russia. Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were, like most royalty, so insulated from the outside world, they didn't have a clue what the people needed or wanted. As for CEOs, they need a lesson in reality too. I hope they get it someday.

I think they put MSG (monosodium glutamate) in KY fried chicken. It's a flavor enhancer, but many people are allergic to it. Also, it changes the body's cell chemistry so that a person gains weight easier. And it's addicting. Taco Bell also uses it.What really ticks me off is how Banquet TV dinners are smaller portions with a lot less taste now, candy bars are smaller but cost even more, the companies cut corners whenever and wherever they can, and CHEAT the customer any way they can. All one can do is boycott items and places. I don't eat KY fried or Taco Bell any more; I rarely buy a candy bar, and we never buy the Banquet Mexican TV dinners any more now that they don't taste as good. My family is eating less pork and beef too, and we're cutting back on our chicken and turkey. For health reasons and for planet Earth.

CKathy ----Yep yessiree that what we need, quick action like the Chinese, kill off our CEOs who commit fraud, kill, injure, etc. They'd all be dead. I hate the thought of that Enron CEO who committed suicide prior to his court penalty but after conviction and his estate never had to pay a dime in restitution. I think the law has changed since.

Ufortunately FDA isn't doing a very good job of protecting the public. Why is it that they use a petroleum bi-product in products such as soda to give the carmel coloring ? what happend to using natural ingredients? Unfortunately we live in a society that is driven by corporate greed at the expence of public health. It's cheaper to manufacture a synthetic product in lab and add it to our food supply in the form of preservatives, but at what expense our Health. there are so many artificial chemicales in food products. is cancer, obesity, diabeties to name just a few a direct result of all these toxins? just some food for thought.

The government allows poisonous products to be sold everyday...example: majority of prescription drugs....but also daily use products such as tooth paste...don't believe it? read the warning label on your crest or almost any other tube of tooth paste. basically says if swallowed contact a poison control center immediately!! don't you look forward to your next tooth brushing experience!! Ohhh!!! don't forget the aluminum oxide in your favorite underarm deodorant which promotes alzheimers!!
