Obama's real stupid cop lives in Missouri, not Cambridge

With the first fifty five minutes of President Obama's Wednesday night press conference on healthcare now obliterated by his now infamous "Cambridge police acted stupidly...." I thought you might find it interesting to read about a really stupid cop.

(Yes, it's Friday and that means:
Tis that time once again when we take stock of the inane and foolish put upon us by those forced to navigate life with an amount of gray matter just slightly larger than that found in your average toad.)

Andrew Cummings, a 25 year old Southwest City police officer was charged Tuesday in McDonald County Circuit Court with felony stealing in connection with a traffic stop he made in 2007 while working for the Pineville Police Department.

According to Greg Grisolano's story in The Joplin Globe , Cummings stole a laptop computer from a D.U.I. suspect during the arrest process and when the woman was later released denied he had the laptop.

Here's the toad moment:  He actually left the stolen laptop of two years with the Noel marshal's office Monday to have software installed.  It evidently never crossed his "one bullet" mind that they'd run a check on the serial number.  And yes, you guessed it, said number matched the one reported as stolen to the Pineville police department (Cummings employer at the time) by Cummings' traffic stop victim over two years ago.

It's hard enough for good cops to do their job today, idiots like Cummings just further feed the public mistrust and make that job even harder.  Here's to hoping he gets more than a slap on the wrist.

From the "is there anything the government won't intrude on" category comes this story from Gabriella Souza of the News-Press.com  out of Fort Myers, Florida.  On Tuesday morning went to work as Fort Myers Beach Town Manager, by Tuesday night he was unemployed.  Summarily fired "without cause" by the town council for marrying the wrong woman.

Yes, you read it right.  He was fired for who he was married to.  Granted his wife is Anabela Mota a porn star whose screen name is Jazella Moore but for crying out loud, that's reason to get you fired, what's this country coming to?  It might have been different if they were flaunting her career or promoting pornography from every street corner in town, but they had been married since LAST OCTOBER and by all accounts had been keeping it so far under the radar Lockheed had contacted them regarding their secret for stealth.

Local resident Pat Smith summed it up best:

“I’m very puzzled about the need for emergency action since our manager has been married since October,” said beach resident Pat Smith during an emergency council meeting Wednesday night. “What I don’t also understand is why it matters so much what the spouse of the mayor is doing so long as it’s legal.”

And no Friday Follies would be complete without homage to our new most popular religion of "climate change".  Joanne Nova of The Science and Public Policy Institute has a new paper out Climate Money  showing how $79 billion of your tax dollars has been spent over the past twenty years by your ever so concerned federal government all in the name of "climate change".

Nova shows how the federal Government's near monopsony on the funding has distorted the science to where much is nothing more then self-serving alarmism.  This should be a must read by every member of the Senate before Obama and the left try to shove cap and trade through this fall.

(I know, I know, pretty unrealistic, I mean they already admit they don't even read the BILLS they pass, why would they be interested in independent thought?)

As always, have a great weekend and I'll see ya round the corner on Monday.
