Osuga & Associates was established in 1984 and is centrally located in Tokyo with convenient access to the Japan Patent Office.
Osuga & Associates can handle patent work in most technical fields and specializes in electronic, computer-related, mechanical and chemical technologies. Osuga & Associates has built an excellent reputation and we are proud of the high quality of our work. Our policy is to do our utmost to obtain patents that can be enforced in Japan against attacks of infringers, to obtain and exercise mutually beneficial license agreements, and to successfully litigate all cases. We always seek to obtain the broadest possible coverage for patents filed with the Japan Patent Office.

Mr. Osuga graduated from Keio University's Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering with an EE degree. He is also a graduate of Keio University's Legal Department with an LLB degree and Temple University's Graduate Law School, where he graduated with an LLM.
Mr. Osuga is a former director of the Tokyo office of the patent department of RCA, a large American company. He has been a regular lecturer before the Japan Intellectual Property Association since 1988, which is the most prestigious patent organization in Japan. He has also been an associate professor lecturing on patent law and intellectual property law in the graduate course of Keio University since 1994.
He has had three books published and has written numerous legal articles on patents and trademarks, and a technical article which was accepted and presented in 1993 before the IEEE.
Mr. Tokunaga graduated from the Department of Pure and Applied Sciences of the University of Tokyo. He also graduated from Tokyo University of Education (presently the University of Tsukuba) with a master's degree in applied mathematics. He was an examiner of the Japan Patent Office, a chief examiner of the Electronic Circuitry division (presently the Transmission System division), and then a chief appeals examiner in the 26th sector (Electronic Commerce). He joined Osuga & Associates in 2004.
Mr. Matsubara graduated from Osaka University with a degree in physics. He joined Tokyo Communication Industries (presently Sony Corporation), worked in the semiconductor department, became the Patent Promotion manager, and then the assistant general manager of the Patent Department. He joined Sharp Corporation, and became the manager of the Intellectual Property Center. He joined Osuga & Associates.
He graduated from Keio University with an EE degree and was an examiner and then a chief appeal court examiner at the Japan Patent Office.
