After a month of delays, Endeavour finally lifts off. The space shuttle and its seven astronauts are headed to the international space station, bringing with them a veranda for Japan's space station lab.

A routine traffic stop near the U.S. Capitol turns deadly after a man brandishing a gun refuses to stop and is shot by police, authorities say. The unidentified 35-year-old man dies after the shooting, and police briefly close off part of the Capitol as a precaution.

An elderly couple say their faith helped them survive when an armed intruder held them hostage in their Virginia home. Robert and Frances Belote say they they felt God was with them throughout the nine-hour ordeal. They remained calm and treated their captor with kindness, serving him iced tea and cereal.

The Sears Tower is changing its name -- to the Willis Tower. The Chicago architectural icon was completed in 1973 and called after an original tenant, Sears Roebuck and Co. But Sears hasn't been a tenant since 1992, and the 110-story building will now be renamed for a new tenant.

A Saudi Arabian family is suing a genie for harassment. The lawsuit alleges the genie has lived in their house for two years and is responsible for leaving threatening phone messages, stealing cell phones and even throwing rocks. A local court is investigating.

A New Hampshire man swipes his debit card at a gas station to pay for a pack of cigarettes -- and is charged more than $23 quadrillion. Josh Muszynski spends hours on the phone with Bank of America to get the error fixed. Muszynski is also asking the bank to cancel its $15 overdraft fee.
