(July 12) - A Brooklyn woman is being hailed as a hero for rushing her young nephew to safety even as she was bleeding to death when gunfire ripped through the playground of her housing complex.
Jesselle Page, 44, often looked after her great nephew, 8-year-old R.J., who lived with his mother on Long Island, the New York Post reported.

The pair was outside Friday when shots rang out. Page scooped up the boy and carried him 40 paces into the lobby of her apartment building, the New York Daily News reported. But Page, an innocent bystander, had already been struck.
Once safely inside, Page slumped to the floor, blood spilling from her mouth. R.J. ran in circles, his hands above his head, until a neighbor pulled the boy into her arms, and the police came.
Police charged 24-year-old Terrance Villanueva with murder, the Post reported, and are looking for other suspects. Neighbors told the Post that the shooting involved an argument over a woman.

sg00000015240414 08:49 AMJul 13 2009 Everyday this is what you see in the news and on the TV....Someone killed by gun fire....When are people going to wake up and see we need some strict gun control in this country....I am so sick of hearing about THE RIGHT TO BARE ARMS.....Stop hiding behind that....That is an OLD law and does not fit todays problems....When are people going to WAKE UP.....When one of theirs is killed.... This is tragic....You stupid, stupid person. Look at the countries (Australia is one) that have taken guns from the citizens (Germany another) and see what's happened. Crime has INCREASED. No one seems to get it. Criminals DON'T obey the law. They will get guns. And there is NO way you'll stop gun manufacturing. Our military needs guns. And if you have manufacturers, you will have people illegally selling them. Trust me, the legitimate gun owners, the ones with permits and that are law abiding, aren't the ones doing these crimes. The people doin...

"RJ ran in circles, hands above his head"......OOOOHH, AAAHH, AAHHHH, AAAAHHHH, EWW, AAH, EEEWWW!! Good thing a tree wasn't nearby or they'd need the F.D. and zoo to tranqualize and get him down. They live together and look what happens. See why whites flee the cities?

I'm going to try something unique: sticking to the subject. How wonderful that this woman saved that little boy, such a shame that she had to try, (such a senseless reason) and that she was willing to give her life to do so...must not have been a second thought. God bless her and that poor little boy!

Sad that a story about a woman giving her life to save her nephew in a senseless crime should result in such stupid, irrelevant comments...

What a heroic woman, who I'm sure now has a pair of Angles Wings in heaven. It's too bad that an 8 year old had to witness her death, but when he is older, he will appreciate that Aunt. What a shame, but God knows why he allows these things to happen. Not in our time but in his.
