Ah, I really like that dark brown.
Just wondering after you dyed it with natural brown, is there any tints of red or orange when you go outside?
o_o

it had an orange tint outdoors

^Wow, i love your hair color -happy.gif-!!!

So you used bleach?
and you have dyed your hair before, multiple times?

I am wondering, how is the condition of your hair right now? // how do you keep it healthy?
Because bleach is very bad for the hair right?

yup, palty bleach natural brown
i dyed it 2 times before using the palty bleach and it became really damaged from the dyes
and i straighten my hair everyday but i just left it alone
after using the palty bleach my hair dried up D:
so went out to buy new haircare products
the shampoo i use right now is called shiny light brown by lux
it prevents color fading and the conditioner makes your hair very soft and smooth
this is the best shampoo i've used so far, other ones leave my hair oily and clumpy
i also use a a leave-in treatment spray from beautylabo color care every morning
it protects the color and hair cuticle for smoother hair. i definitely noticed a big difference in my hair using these
im going to purchase a rinse off hair treatment next week smile.gif

Ahh, just did palty (bitter cappuccino)
so i know people said it was very subtle
or didn't show at all
but all i wanted was to even out my hair colour
(roots, lots of different coloured hait etc...)
and turn it a nice dark-ish/medium brown

well, i left it in for like 35 minutes and it actually made my hair darker?
ahaha very subtle, like it looks like my natural hair actually.
i do wish it was lighter, though

but for those who are scared of orange tones, theres are like none lol
its a nice pure brown!

i might post pictures later but...
i dont think it matters cause there is like NO diffrence ahaha

I finally did it.

I've been lurking in this thread for who knows how long, doing "research" and reading about the experiences others have had when using Palty. Last week, I went to my local 99 Ranch (I live in the general San Francisco Bay Area in California) and bought me two boxes of Palty Caramel Brown. I have virgin black hair that shines black in the sun - my natural color is that dark. This is only my second dye job (the first time I dyed my hair, I was 14; now I'm 19, go figure). My hair is layered and at its longest is just below the shoulders and is somewhat thick, so I bought two boxes just in case. Yesterday, my friend helped me dye my hair and it turned out that one box was sufficient for me. It was JUST enough, so I'd suggest two boxes to anyone with hair that is longer than mine or is quite thick. It took my friend about 15-20 minutes to apply the dye in my hair. After she was done putting it in, I left the color in for 40-45 minutes before rinsing the dye out. I then used the included conditioner packet and left it in my wet hair for 20 minutes before rinsing that out, using a hair dryer afterwards as recommended in the instructions.

And now, the results! Link here.

I'm very satisfied with my results. :3 Contrary to what some in this thread have previously said, the color I ended up with was VERY close, if not the SAME shade that is provided on "preview colors" found on the back of the Palty box. (Note that I was going from the darkest shade, black, to a brown tone with subtle red/orange undertones.) However, I believe this is so because I left the color in for almost double the amount of time that's directed in the included instructions (which was 20 minutes). I did not use any of the bleaches that the Palty brand offers prior to dyeing my hair with Caramel Brown.

I've noticed that many in this thread have said that when they've used Palty, the results they get after dyeing never correspond with the model's hair color. All I have to say to this is: DUH! Unless you seek professional services (like with a salon/hairstylist), it's very difficult to get a color that is 100% the same as what is previewed on the package of the hair dye. Also, if you notice the four swatches on the back of each Palty box, it shows (in my experience) reliable previews as to what result you will get after dyeing, depending on the color of your hair before you dye it. Those swatches were key in my decision of which Palty color I should buy (aside from Caramel Brown, I was also interested in Bitter Cappuccino, Almond Chocolate, and Honey Brown). And by referring to the swatches, I ended up with a result that I was quite happy with. Further, swatches aside, each person reacts to a hair dye differently, based on their natural hair color, genetics, the state their hair is in before dyeing (healthy, damaged, etc.), how long the dye is left in the hair, etc. etc. All in all, I'd suggest that if you want a more dramatic result (i.e. going from virgin black hair to a lighter brown/a color with more orange or red undertones), purchase a Palty color that is 2-4 shades lighter than your natural hair color. Also, there are the Palty bleaches to consider, which I've heard can give you a more dramatic result when used by itself - that is, you wouldn't need to dye your hair with another Palty color after bleaching, unless, of course, that is what you want.

I like how indoors and in lower light, my hair is a natural looking, dark/medium brown. In natural, sufficient lighting and in sunlight, my hair is more true to the color(s) shown on the box (as seen in my photos above). I didn't experience any itching or pain on my scalp during the dyeing process and the smell of the dye did not bother my friend or myself at all (and remember, proper ventillation is key!). All in all, this was a successful dye job with my Palty Caramel Brown. When the color eventually fades/when my roots begin to show, I'll just use my second box of CB to rejuvinate the color.

Sorry for the TL;DR essay of a post sweatingbullets.gif but the reason why I said so much is because I tried to cover all/most of the angles associated with using Palty and dyeing hair in general. I hope this was helpful! biggrin.gif

I recently dyed my hair caramel brown too XD i was considering bitter chocolate too. the color IS pretty much EXACTLY what it says dark brown/black hair would look like if dyed. (my hair was virgin black as well) my hair looks very similar to yours (can't say exact since monitor colors and camera settings affects colors~ ;b)

only difference is i dyed it shorter time i think since i'm not sure if you included the application time. application + massaging it in took ~15-20 mins and left in for another 20 mins. so total time in hair was 35-40 mins which is their recommended.

Thankies, I like it very much as well! :3

What is your natural hair color? Assuming that it is [virgin] black like mine, our results should be somewhat similar. Although there are things like how long you've left the dye in your hair as well as genetics and other factors like that which have an effect on the final result you get after dyeing. How red did your hair end up? o: And when you re-dyed it, how much time had it been after you've dyed it with Palty, and did you re-dye with Palty or with another brand?

Yep! biggrin.gif I'm assuming you paid careful attention to the preview swatches on the Palty box like I did and that is why (I'm assuming, in your case) we're both satisfied with our results. And yeah, IRL when in the sunlight, my hair appears a more vibrant "caramel brown" than what was captured in the photos I took.

I also edited my post to answer your question. My friend who helped me dye my hair took about 15-20 minutes to apply/massage in the color. When she was done with that, I left the dye in my hair for 40-45 minutes. If you consider the entire amount of time it took for the application of color and the amount of time the dye was in my hair to do its work, it comes to a total of roughly 60-65 minutes -- about an hour. Having the dye in my hair for that long wasn't a bother for me at all, since, as I said, I didn't experience any pain or itching of the scalp. Of course, this varies from person to person.

What was the exact color of Palty you used to dye your hair? You said you dyed it black and from what I've seen in this thread and the stores that sell Palty, the Palty Black colors come in a blue box instead of a pink box. All of the Palty colors with pink boxes are permanent and while the color does fade with time (5 to 8 weeks, it depends), it doesn't happen/shouldn't happen as quickly. The colors featured with blue boxes aren't permanent; rather, they are "demi-permanent," which basically means that the color will begin to fade after two days to about two weeks (depends on which Palty Black you get; from my understanding, one fades faster than the other).

PALTY VS GARNiER FRUCTIS

Palty

I used Milk Tea Brown About a month Ago. I instantly fell in love with color but I had dark hair so when I dyed it, it didn't come out the same as in the box. Though I really liked the color it came out it was a lil orangey brown, sorry no pictures, and the dye smelled nice but I had semi-long hair so I had to buy 2 boxes. I bought both on ebay and both were 15(shipped) each so $25 including shipping. Apparently if you want to have the color on the box you need to buy bleach but I didn't want to damage my hair with harsh bleach so I went ahead a dyed it. I still liked the outcome of it and I got a bunch of compliments from people even though it wasn't the color I truly wanted. Palty still dryed out my hair (every dye dries my hair .__.) but I deep conditioned my hair to keep it healthy I used the palty conditioner but it was a small packet so I used Treseme conditioner instead. The Color fades after a few weeks though it became a tint darker and my roots were tarting to grow out. So I planned my next color shall be an American brand and I'll evaluate them.

Pros:
1. Smells Nice
2. Variety of Shades
3. Liked the Color Outcome

Cons:
1.Very limited dye (two boxes if you have long hair)
2.Fades quickly
3.Colors on the box are a bit misleading unless used bleach or already have light hair

Gardnier Fructis

Picture:
[img]http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i178/RubyAkiou/Random/300.jpg[img]
(Sorry, I don't have a working camera for my hair.)

When My roots began to show up I redyed it with Garnier Fructis HoneyDip. The color looked nice and I didn't really want to buy another two boxes of palty. .__. I began the dye and it smelled very bad. Of course you would still need bleach to get that shade on the box but I didn't want to bleach my hair. I bought one box at my local Walmart for about 8 bucks and went home and dyed. The color came out to be almost the same as milk tea brown color but just not so orange it was darker. Its like a little chocolaty golden brown I still like the color but not as much as palty's. My hair smelled like dye chemicals after that even after the mega good smelling conditioner. A few days later it still smelled just to a lesser extent but it also left the smell of hairdye on my cinnamon roll pillow! Not very people noticed much because it was almost the same exact color but it was still a lovely color. I just dyed my hair this week so I can't say if faded or anything but I'll edit if it does.

Blegh, even when I bleached my hair for half an hour+ and used the garnier dye I practically came out looking like a ginger. (word of warning, I guess, for those who decide to bleach their hair first). I guess I should've probably just bought a hair dye that was realllllly ashy and quite light and used that only.

Luckily, my friend gave me a purplish toner/shampoo to help balance out the orange. But still, given that I couldn't even dye my eyebrows w/ some facial hair bleach, I don't think my hair will match anyways.

I don't wanna damage my hair even more, though, so hopefully I can find some squid ink hair dye at the local hmart or online...or something. ><

If you leave the dye in for 45 mins to an hour, then you don't need to bleach it first if you want dark red/brown hair smile.gif
Not sure if the same thing can be said for dark blonde hair though?

^ thanks for the tip !

oooh, so for like, MILK TEA BROWN , leaving it for around 45 mins is good enough without using bleach ?
just confirming, LOL . smile.gif

+ for Palty Hair Bleach Super Flash Sparkling Blonde would it be the same instructions as all the others, or does it have a different set of instructions ?

If you want a color that is the same/very similar to the hair color of the model, you will have to buy the Palty bleach and use that first. Otherwise, you won't get a color (that light, almost blonde-ish brown) similar to the model on the box. Leaving Milk Tea Brown in your virgin black hair for approximately 45 minutes will give you a hint of the color, becoming more vibrant/noticable in the sunlight, but it won't be a very dramatic change in most regular lighting because of your very dark natural hair color. If you have access to the 4 preview hair color swatches found on the back of the Palty box, I'd suggest studying those very closely (and you can make better decisions on whether or not you want to bleach your hair first before dyeing with Milk Tea Brown). That's what I did and I was able to dye with Palty knowing which color I'd get and being satisfied with my results (I didn't bleach before dyeing).

If you're able to purchase Palty at a store where you can actually hold and look at the boxes, I'd suggest looking at all the swatches for all the colors available and make your decisions based on what you see and like. I've found those swatches to have enough accuracy to be reliable. If you don't have that option, using Palty's bleach first will give you more insurance of getting a hair color that is VERY SIMILAR (for it's very difficult to get an exact same color) to the model on the Palty box.

As for the application of Palty Hair Bleach Super Flash Sparkling Blonde, yes, it's pretty much the same as when you apply regular Palty hairdye to your hair (my friend has done it before). The major difference between the dye and the bleach is the amount of time you leave it in your hair. For the bleach, one would typically leave it to work in your hair for about 10 to 30 minutes, depending on how much lighter/dramatic a result you want. For the dye, people usually leave it in their hair from anywhere between 35 to 65+ minutes.

Hope this helps and good luck! biggrin.gif

Sorry if this has been asked already, but I was wondering how well these dyes work on very thick hair. My hair is only shoulder length, but I have very thick hair and A LOT of it. I was hoping to dye my hair the Juicy Peach color (permanent dye though) :3
My hair is almost black, but I'm not concerned about that after what I've been reading on this thread tongue.gif
If I can I'll get my hair cut before and I always get my hair thinned, so would that help?
If need be I might be willing to buy two packages sad.gif

EDIT:
Would it be a good idea to dye my eyebrows, too? I have thick eyebrows. Not caterpillars, but you can tell I don't wax/pluck. I was thinking it might look weird... but I don't know if they have a product for dying your eyebrows, too, 'cause I don't think you're supposed to use the dye to do your eyebrows as well :/

alright. i'm not sure how helpful i'm going to be. i've only dyed my hair a few times.
my hair is SUPER thick. and i have a lot of it--like you.
i previously dyed my hair sweet mille-feuille [palty], and from what i know, the colors similar to juicy peach.
i really liked the outcome of the color. i didn't bleach it, but it still lightened up a lot. [i had virgin black hair & i left the dye in for 1 hr]
i basically went from black hair --> medium-ish brown with red tints.
getting it cut and thinned before would definitely help.
palty does not contain as much dye as the american brands.
i only bought ONE box, and that got me through 3/4 of my head.
ohmygoodness. it was such a disaster. some sections of my hair were way darker than others T_T
my final suggestion:
1) ONE BOX: dye it after you cut & thin your hair [hopefully you'll make it!]
2) TWO BOXES: dye, then cut

as for your eyebrows, it's up to you to dye it.
i didnt. lol. on ME, it looked pretty weird because my eyebrows are very...dark & thick.
you're right, they suggest you to not use the dye near your eyebrows. i read that because its so close to your eye, it can be potentially damaging.
from what i hear, palty DOES sell eyebrow dye [i've never seen it though] but someone said it was only temporary.
someone else on soompi in earlier pages suggested just using facial hair bleach?
i'm not too sure how thats going to turn out though, because wouldn't that turn it...light brown o_O
my final suggestion:
dye your eyebrows if theyre naturally really really dark brown
as for the product you should use, i'm not sure :/

goodluck! i love the color juicy peach, so i'm sure it's going to turn out great :]

my question:
dye experts: what do you use to lighten your eyebrows? i'm planning to dye it milk tea brown soon :]
