Masaaki Suzuki

Aberdeen - The memorial service for Masaaki Suzuki, 39, of 719 S. Jay St. will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Spitzer-Osthus Funeral Home, 320 Sixth Ave. S.E. Chaplain Elaine Van Dover will officiate. Tomoko Numata will translate the service into Japanese.

Burial will be in Japan at a later date.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m. today, and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

He died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, in a helicopter crash near Doland.

Masaaki Suzuki was born Jan. 15, 1963, to Kazuhiro and Toshie Suzuki in Tokyo, Japan. He grew up and attended school in Tokyo. He graduated from Waseda Gitsugyo High School in 1981. He received a four-year bachelor's degree in economics at Tokyo Keizai (Economics) University. After college he worked at NEC form 1985 to 1990.

He married Misa Sugiyama on April 23, 1988, in Tokyo. They lived in Yokohama, Japan, for a couple of years before moving to Corvallis, Ore. in 1990, where he received his flying license. They then returned to Japan where he received his commercial helicopter license. In 1992, they moved to Seattle where he was a flight instructor and manager of Alpha Aviation. In 1994, they moved to San Luis Obispo, Calif., where he was a manager at the Kyodo Flight School. He moved to Portland, Ore., in 1997, and was a manager of the Japanese department at Hillsboro Aviation. They moved to Aberdeen in February 2002. He took a job with Omni Flight and was flying helicopters for Avera St. Luke's Hospital.

When he was a younger he enjoyed riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed downhill skiing and woodworking. He developed a Web site for pilots and flight students in Japan. He loved his dogs, Miffy, Muffy and Casper.

Survivors include his wife of Aberdeen; one daughter, Miko Suzuki of Aberdeen; his parents of Tokyo; and one sister, Emiko Shindo of Tokyo.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.		 2002年9月13日(金)

鈴木正明氏(39)の追悼式は、土曜日午後2時よりElaine Van Dover牧師の執行により執り行われる。
Tomoko 沼田さんが、日本語への通訳を行なう。

埋葬は後日、日本で行なわれることになる。


彼は2002年9月9日、Doland付近でのヘリコプター事故により亡くなった。

彼は1963年1月15日、東京でKazuhiro/Toshieの間に生まれた。
1981年早稲田実業高校を卒業し、その後東京経済大学で経済学の学士号を取得した。　大学卒業後は1985-1990年の間NECに勤務した。
1988年4月23日、東京で杉山美佐と結婚し、オレゴン州コルヴァリスにおいてヘリコプター免許を取得するまでの2-3年間、横浜で生活した。
1990年に免許取得後、事業用免許取得のため日本に帰国した。
1992年に、ｱﾙﾌｧｰｱﾋﾞｴｲｼｮﾝのインストラクターおよびマネージャとして、シアトルに移動した。
1994年には共同航空マネージャとして、カリフォルニアに移った。
1997年にオレゴン州ポートランドに移り、ヒルズボロー飛行学校の日本担当マネージャとなった。

そして2002年2月、サウスダコタ州アバディーンに移り、Omniflight社のEMSパイロットとして勤務することになった。

若い頃の彼はバイク、ダウンヒルスキー、木材工作を楽しんだ。
そして日本人パイロット、学生向けのウェブサイトも立ち上げた。
また彼は3匹の犬、Miffy, Muffy and Casperを愛した。


アバディーンで彼の妻を含む遺族は、みこちゃん、東京に両親と姉 。



彼は祖父母も残し、先立ってしまった。
