RbTess2: Actually, I believe there were 3-4 winners on the west side of MI. 2 of them were right on Alpine, not far from Grand Rapids and another in Elk (I believe). But the Liquor store on Alpine (M-37) seems to of had many winners there. Fixed? Maybe. Luck of the draw, Definitly. I had tried there many times and I guess big money just wasn't in the cards for me!

Nothing comes free. People should be glad to get the cut of money that they do get. Yeah, it sucks that you think you're getting 100 million and may only take home 10 million, but you only paid at the most 5 dollars for your ticket. Be thankful you get anything or that we even have a lottery!

True,if you win ten million you would do good to take home three million.Well I don't know about the rest of you but that 3 million would be very welcome coming my way.I'd be tickled and could have fun enjoying it even if the government got their dirty paws on the majority of what should have been mine since I was the one with the winning numbers...not them.Face it,we do have a very greedy gov. and they will always take the biggest bite.

I have gone to the site www.rilot.com (I live in RI) trying to find out information about the Powerball. I just can't seem to negotiate the site well enough to find out some things. Like - how much of a percentage does the Gov't take? Is the tax higher on winnings than on earnings? Is each State's tax rate different? How much exactly (percentage-wise) does the Federal Gov't take. If all these taxes are taking more than 50%, where is all the money going? I know that FL does a pretty good job of providing educational monies for their state, but how about the other states that participate in PowerBall? anyone know?
