 | 03:32 am - Hi-mi-tsu. ^.~ I have been meaning to post this for a few days now. I watched the first episode of Antique Bakery. It's like... It seems really dumb so far. A friend of mine is a huge fan of the manga, so I am checking it out for that reason, but... It's almost like "it's so bad, it's good!" at times. Like the boxer that loses his career to a messed up retina and cries while eating an elaborate little cake, or the SO blatantly gay guy... Or the main character with shortcake trauma... ;_; How many excuses does a person need to make to throw together some good fanservice situations?!
Mamoru Miyano is in it, though, so it's nice to get to hear him.
Seriously, though. Who has a CAKE TRAUMA?! I WOULD GLADLY LIVE WITH A STRANGE AND FRIGHTENING CRIMINAL IF I GOT TO EAT STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE ALL THE TIME! I'd even call him Ojiisan and play my role to the fullest. I'd even pretend to be scared when I was really just hungry. -_-... I like the OP animation, but it speaks to the next thing that's wrong with this series already.
Horribly placed 3d art. It's like Noein, but not as colorful or well-integrated. Honestly, those things are always a distraction. At least it allowed for some pretty shots in something like Noein, because they could sweep around the houses really quickly. This is like some sort of semi-cell shaded disaster. I hate it.
Ono Yuusuke is played by Shinichiro Miki, the 81produce guy that did Kurz Weber in FMP. That was kindof a shock to me. I didn't recognize his voice right off the bat, and it's annoying because I'm usually always searching for him. Kurz was one of those guys I could listen to all day, you know? Right now, for me, Ono is just yuck! I hate him. I want all of his goals and aspirations to fall through because of how much I hate him. His sense of style is crappy, too. He just looks like a creep. :( Pout. I don't understand how his voice could sound so different, though. Shinichiro Miki has done BL before, and he was even Kyousuke in Papa to Kiss in the Dark, which I LOVED! What a prince! WHY DID YOU HAVE TO MESS THIS UP SO HORRIBLY?! I may have possibly been able to NOT smile when Tachibana says "DIE, FAG!" if Ono could have spoken with a voice as deep as I know that guy can do.
GRR!!!
Mamoru Miyano at least makes the "waahhhh! I can't box anymore! What am I going to DO?! I know! Cake shop!" guy, Eiji, quite lovable. Any other criticisms? I hate the coloring. It's too washed-out. And sometimes everything looks like a poorly-CGed homebrew ero game. Yeah.
The funniest moment by far was hearing "Antique wa guran no sponsaa no teikyou de okurishimashita" in the hilariously solemn voice right after you learn that the main protagonist was KIDNAPPED and FORCED TO EAT CAKE for two months 28 years ago. Maybe I'll learn that he was also brutally raped while being force-fed the cake or something, and then I'll suddenly feel guilty and call him brave for facing his fear by opening a cake shop... Or I won't because I don't care and I think these characters are all idiots.
UGH! Ono! His voice is bad, but his look is worse. I want to slap those glasses off his face (as in, he doesn't deserve to wear them)! How could anyone desire such a crap?! Yeah, I called him a crap. Tachibana's voice actually gets kindof nice a lot of the time. Keiji Fujiwara also played Shuuji in HachiKuro (and I'm head over heals in love with that character), so he's neat. I like the way his face looks when he's shocked. Still... The overall style could use so much wooooork!
Besides, Shuu-chan's voice wasn't really the attractive thing about him at all. It was just good as it was. I think Keiji Fujiwara's other roles are usually characters I hate. Irvine from Zoids, Kannuki-sensei these past two weeks in Nabari, Kyouji Koriyama in Noein, Papa in Abenobashi, he was IN Kino's Journey (which I hate forever, not that it really matters that he was in that, it was an extra-type role)... Hehehehe. Honestly, though, he's fine in Antique, really!
Fumi Yoshinaga is the author of the original manga, and I just feel like giving her a good choke. European. Style. Is. Overrated. Never. Ever. Use it. Again.
But... If Ono is a crap, then Eiji is a cute.
;_; Now I'm a bit tired. I wanted to talk about The Secret of Haruka Nogizaka! I'm going to check it out, but it seems a lot more fanservice-y than I imagined. I don't know what I was thinking, but it might be worth watching. It could also be something along the lines of Goushuushousama Ninomiya-kun, where you feel like you're watching it through the eyes of a member of the Genshiken.
Actually... Is it possible to have a moe for characters that respond to questions by saying "Hi-mi-tsu" broken up into parts like that? It happened in the first episode of Telepathy Shoujo Ran and in Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo, which is a movie I saw for the first time this weekend (an awesome movie, at that). I really like it! I want to do it more but I don't really have that many secrets. I guess I can use it on Marty by pouting and making him fish for what's bothering me.
Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu sounded like it had the potential to be cool, but seeing the promos, it might just be a very shiny, very ecchi kind of show. According to Wikipedia, the plot of the light novels (of which there are seven) is that Haruka is a sort of princess at her private high school, and all of the students look up to her and refer to her with french terms of endearment, etc. Then, a regular guy bumps into her in the library and inadvertently discovers that she's some kind of major otaku. So he becomes her friend, confidant, and companion on trips to her house and Akiba. His character design reminded me of the husband from Okusama wa Joshikosei.
And lastly, a look at my ridiculous and cute relationship with Marty.
[02:56] Marty Barbella: I guess I'll just get a few hours of sleep [02:56] Marty Barbella: then nap, maybe [02:56] me: wait [02:57] me: want to hear a funny joke? [02:57] Marty Barbella: yeah [02:57] me: Kono bangumi wa guran no sponsaa no teikyou de okurishimashita. [02:57] me: Kono bangumi wa guran no sponsaa no teikyou de okurishimashita. [02:57] me: Kono bangumi wa guran no sponsaa no teikyou de okurishimashita. [02:57] me: Kono bangumi wa guran no sponsaa no teikyou de okurishimashita. [02:57] me: Kono bangumi wa guran no sponsaa no teikyou de okurishimashita. [02:57] me: JAJAJAJAJAJA! [02:57] Marty Barbella: jajaja [02:58] me: ^.^ Night, then? [02:58] Marty Barbella: yep [02:58] Marty Barbella: talk to you tomorrow He actually does laugh at the "brought to you by"s for some reason. ;_; <3 As netking would say, "Marty is a qt.
Lol.
Oh, and I made a Tibia character on Azura (free account) that wears the mage costume in the colors of the Brazillian flag. Well, it was on the starter island. Right now, I'm using a more dignified set, because I don't want to be like "oi" and then get PKed in town for annoying someone.
Oh and look at my icon! Miharu was holding Yoite so much in episode 14. I knew it was coming, but still! Seeing Yoite reach for Miharu while saying he doesn't want to die was also really great. And I want to see Kouichi with his feathers, and at his most violent. Uaa! Great show, great show, great show.
<3
Bah! I don't even have time to really get into Soul Eater right now. All I have to say is...

I wonder if it's possible to die of shortcake intoxication. |
