There is no existing record on the birthday of Hong Gil-Dong . But Il-dong Hong, a stepbrother of Hong Gil-Dong was born in 1419 (the 1st year of King Sejong).
In addition, the genealogical table of Jangjeondaeju (brother of Hong Gil-Dong 's wife) from the museum in Yaeyama, Isigakijima(Seogweondo), Okinawa of Japan says that Hong Gil-Dong was born in Jeongtong (Japanese unit of year) 8th year, which is 1443.
