On November 5th, 1997, professor Seol Seong-Gyeong and professor Lee Hee-Deuk of Yonsei University, Professor Kim Il-Geun of Geonguk University, Professor Jin-Han Song of Chonnam University, and Lee Byeong-Jik, the director of Jangseong culture center presented and discussed the activity in and out of the country and the ideology of Hong Gil-Dong in the international meeting room on the 3rd floor of FKI (Federation of Korean Industries) center. |

On October 24th, 1998, professor Seol Seong-Gyeong of Yonsei University, researcher Yang Gwon-Seong, and the director of Culture Center opened a seminar, respectively on the subject of "The records related to Hong Gil-Dong have been distorted,¡± "the possibility in Yugu Islands, Japan,¡± and "About the rebellion of Oyakeakahachi of Okinawa, Japan.¡± The seminars were held at the meeting room of Jangseong County Office. |

April 26th. Yugu Newspaper reported the 6th Okinawa academic investigation by the Hong Gil-Dong research team. |

He examined historical facts that the castles in Okinawa were built by foreigners focusing on Hong Gil-Dong and Gawara Hong.

He declared that Hong Gil-Dong is the keyword of the exchange between Korea and Japan and insisted on studying together about Hong Gil-Dong .

He suggested the possibility that Hong Gil-Dong in Korea and Gawara Hong in Japan could be the same person through the achievements recorded on documents such as Guayng, Authentic records of Joseon Dynasty, and Haedongijeok etc.
