Locate the exact place and scale of Hong Gil-Dong's birth home
Location : The region of 424, Agok-ri, Hwangryong-myeon, Jangseong County
Excavation agency : Chonnam University Museum (the curator, Tae-Ho Lee, the director of excavation Team, Professor Young-Jin Lim)

Excavation period : March 2001. ~ 30th September 2001.
Excavation range : 918 Pyeong
Building site
- Considering the condition of stone basement and other structures, it was proved to be of two buildings.
- As for the scale, it is 4 chambers in facade and 1 chamber in profile, but considering of drainage and fence, it is assumed as 5 chambers in facade and 3 chambers in profile
Terrace : 3 flat forms are assumed to be constructed
Fence : fence basement 2 meters in width was found at the end of building site to the southwest.
Remains : Excavated 138 pieces of Buncheongsagi, Baekja and tiles and etc. (Kept in Gwangju National Museum)
Considering of the finding of many pieces of tiles and Jagi, broken pieces of china in which 'ÓÞ' and 'Ò®àë' were engraved, the building site was to have been used in the 15th century, and it is the same timeline with the birth and life of Hong Gil-Dong .
2 Building sites were confirmed to be a very big buildings considering the structure of stone embankment and the stone material. |
