Natural Hair type: a bit wavy

Hair History: -dyed....more than 10 times? I lost count.

Hair color Before:
I kind of miss this hair color. It looked great when looking in a mirror but when I take a picture..!@#$%@

Hair color After
this ALL happened in a little over a month, I think

dyed blonde underneath

then bleached it orange. it was brighter than this.

bleached it again to blonde then dyed it again but it didn't really show up!

dyed over it and viola! my new hair color. it looks darker irl though..
Bleach?: yes
Hair Dye: garnier, loreal
Price: ah, i don't know
Changes:
- Damage? OH HELL YES
- Texture change? ...yes
Description: - even though I used vol.40 bleach, it worked really slowly and i had to leave it for a REALLY long time and it still wasn't light as I wanted it to be
Comments: - I like it. It's a bit uneven, though. I'm scared to go back to black again...=/

I'm sorry if this is too much. I'm new here -__-

im thinking of dying my hair,
but i have a really dark(?) black hair. o:
its my natural hair color.
i want to dye it to a brown color~

WORTH IT?: yes smile.gif
Natural Hair type: fine and straight/slightly wavy

Hair History: dyed quite a bit hmm not really sure exactly how many times but its between 5-10 ohmy.gif tried corn perm once too which damaged my hair really bad omg would never do that again..

these aren't all my colour changes but just the more recent ones, i'll comment below on the most recent one..

Hair color Before: natural black hair on top and dyed hair on the bottom
Hair color After: medium-light chestnut brown colour (looks more red/orangey in the pic but its more brown in person)
Bleach?: no
Hair Dye: Palty - Milk Tea Tart
Price: 219TWD which is about $11NZD and $6.50USD
Changes:
- Damage? it doesn't seem like it, my hair feels quite smooth which is great! normally when I dye my hair myself my hair feels coarse afterwards (mar 2008 pic shows a dark colour which i dyed myself, i'm not sure if you can tell but my hair looks quite coarse here =|)
- Texture change? none that i can tell
Description: just slathered it all over my hair and left it in for 45mins
Comments: I really like the results! love how it left my hair soft and the colour payoff is quite good for a DIY dye smile.gif

WORTH IT?: Yup.
Natural Hair type: Straight with the occasional waves and poofs.
Hair History: Highlighted like 3 times and dyed 3 times.
Hair color Before:

This is the only picture I have before I dyed my hair. = w=;
Hair color After:

^ First time: Used Vanilla beige on virgin hair. Didn't turn out that light. dx

^ Second time: Honey Brown.
Bleach?: Nope.
Hair Dye: First time : Palty - Vanilla Beige (2 boxes) Second time : Palty - Honey Brown (1 box)
Price: I bought the dyes for $7.99 each so it would be around $24 total?
Changes: It's a little damaged now, but that always happens when you dye hair. My hair seems less course and it's not poofy anymore!
Description: - I applied the hair dye, and then put a plastic shower cap on it. I blowdried on top of the cap and inside for a while, then I stopped. I left the dye on for about 40 minutes.
Comments: - I really like the result of the 2nd time I dyed it.

Has anyone found any asian brand hair color that lasts?
Since I want a blonde/orangey type of color, i'm only gonna trust asian brands..
I also think bleaching it first would be better? Since my hair is virgin black!
But i'm not sure which one is the best?

Help!
__thanks in advance!

Why don't you just go to the salon.
ohmy.gif
if your failing that get Garnier 100%
it's not asian brand, but my friend is korean dyed her hair
with RUBY RED GARNNIER 100%
it lasted 3-6 months i think
it faded on the last two months to a nice
red orange. biggrin.gif
it has to say 100%
get the bleach to it lasts longer and gives u a rich color.

but do go to a salon if you can (healthier)

WORTH IT?: - YES!
Natural Hair type: Thick and curly black hair (yeah it does suck lol.)
Hair History: I used to thermally recondition my hair but it's too costly and now I just flat-iron and color.
Hair color Before: Lightened slightly to a dark brown.
Hair color After: Gold lol.
Bleach?: Yes
Hair Dye: Palty gold bleach
Price: around $15 on ebay with s+h
Changes: My hair is a little drier and fluffier but my curls look nicer than before and they are easier to flat-iron.
Description: I had my hair professionally done light brown but I wanted to stop paying so much to get my hair colored so I ordered some palty and used it on my roots but I had to use it a week later because my hair is really stubborn and I really liked how light my hair came out the second time. After I apply the bleach I wrap my head in saran wrap and put a towel over my head.
Comments: I'm really happy with my hair color and I am going to continue to use palty's gold bleach because the salon I went to charges around $90ish for a color job T_T I also recommend getting 2 packages of hair color because palty didn't give me enough to cover my whole head :/

Say you dyed your hair, and you don't like the color. How long would it take before dying it once again, but without completely killing your hair?

I've always dyed my hair in 3~6month intervals.
I just bought this dye that has bleach in it, and I've been kind of iffy about it... I'm afraid I'll look bad with light hair.

ADVICE ADVICE ADVICE PLEASE! so today I decided to go and TRY dying my hair by a professional for the first time of my life.. BIG BIG MISTAKE! I got recommended to go to a family friend's salon.. I asked for a medium/dark brown something that's NATURAL looking but at the same time noticeable.. BUT OF COURSE something had to go wrong.. instead I got a medium/light brown that looks almost orange WHICH is what I was afraid of.. ORANGE! Not only did I spend $60 on a color I HATE but I ALSO GOT A BAD HAIRCUT! the guy trimmed my hair WAY TOO THIN.. MY hair looks bad thin. now I'm worried because I work at a bank and this color isn't professional. WHAT CAN I DO!?!? I know re-dying it so quick is going to damage my hair.. I wouldn't want that.. will washing my hair fade the color faster?

I know these pictures might make the color look nice but that's only because of the lighting

here's a color similar to mine

You should go back and have them fix it or get a refund since you didn't like they cut your hair... idk if it's took late to do that but you can try and it doesn't look orange ohmy.gif

Since your hair went lighter,it would only fade lighter ohmy.gif is that what you even mean? washing your hair to fade color would end up damaging your hair and if you dyed your hair a darker color it wouldn't be that damaging compared to dying it a lighter color.

I'd always wanted to dye my hair but never got the chance to because of my parents.

So, what happens when mother dearest is out of town for the weekend, and father dear has to work overtime on Saturday?

>:D

WORTH IT?: Yeah!
Natural Hair type: Fine/straight/medium length
Hair History: Virgin hair.
Hair color Before: Dark brown/black with natural medium brown highlights.
Hair color After: Dark ashy brown with medium brown highlights.
Bleach?: Nope.
Hair Dye: Revlon Colorsilk in 40 Medium Ash Brown

Price: $2.97 @ Walmart
Changes: My hair was softer and smoother after dying it :O! And the dye claims to "leave your hair in better condition than before you colored".
Description: I followed the included instructions, but left it in for about 30 minutes instead of the suggested 25 minutes. Not much of a difference but oh well. There's no funky ammonia smell, and my hair smells really good after. Also, it was the most inexpensive hair dye I found at Walmart, but it works great!
Comments: After blow drying my hair, I was like, "... no difference? WASTE OF $3 D:<!" But I compared my before and after pictures, and noticed that even though the difference was subtle, I really liked it. No one could really tell if I hadn't told them, but basically, the dye had only changed the tones in my hair. It went from a reddish brown to ash brown. In some lighting, my hair looks like a natural black, which is something I had wanted before, but in sunlight, you can really see the greyish undertones. Seeing that at the moment, I was really looking for a light ash brown color [like Palty Jewelry Ash or Milk Tea Brown], I was a bit disappointed at first and felt like I should've left it in for maybe 45 minutes or bleached it first, but now I like the subtle change =) It means I won't get whooped by my mama x___x

Before --> After
I didn't have make up on in the before pic, so that explains the difference in my skintone. It's not a change in lighting =X

I'll definitely update after a week or so to see if it has faded.

I have a question from all the veteran dye-ers XD.

Im thinking of dyeing my hair brown for the first time soon, however, the only worry of mine is that, I have dry hair because I always dry+hot iron it whenever i go out (if i dont itll be all weird and poofy) so I'm just scared that this+dyeing would completely ruin/damage my hair (but i do those hair treatment things to remedy the abuse, if i may say so).

Would it? :s

Thankyou so much <3

Alright so I have a pressing question that I need answers to quickly...

This sounds very stupid, but can you keep leftover hair dye for later uses?
I didn't mix the entire contents, I still have developer left in the bottle and the hair dye cream in a separate tube.
I heard things about how it can explode or something, but other people said they kept it and re-used it and nothing happened.
I don't really understand how it would explode, but I would like to keep it for when my streaks fade out and to touch them up.

it wuz a brand dat started wid a "c" but forgot wat it wuz called.
yeah... my hair wuz realli damaged after dis.
obviously, i didnt get all my roots so it looked weird

dis wuz after my hair wuz blonde.
i loved the color though!
i dyed it dis color becuz my roots started to grow n it started to look awkward on my head.
by now my hair is pretttie damaged wid all the bleach.
but by now it wuznt as damaged as it wuz when i bleached it for da blonde..

ATTEMPT NUMBA TWOO.
dis time around my sister dyed my hair blonde.
it wuz much better, becuz i got all my roots.
although it hurt like a B*TCHH.
becuz the bleach burns ur head..
aniwaiseee yea, my hair wuz very damaged.
i had to condition it b4 i went to bed.
n it wuz realli hard to keep up wid.
also i thought my hair wuz gonna fall out ahah
[but it didnt tongue.gif]

well then i dyed it a red.
but it looks like a brown...>.>

okies, if u look closely at the bottom of my hair,
i retouched it wid blonde bottoms.
so it wuz red/brown wid blonde at the bottom.

THEN FINALLY.
i dyed it like a burgundy but it looks like black.
i havent dyed my hair since then.
but now my hair looks like a light brown.

I was just wondering...

If I have black asian hair, do I need to bleach it first before I dye it? Because I was planning on using palty this summer... does palty hair dye already have bleach in it, or will it come out looking no different as my original hair colour? ;_;

Sorry, I'm such a noob :C
pixai
^ I think it depends on what color hair you're trying to achieve.. and what box you're using for palty.. If you want a color like, really light brown, its probably better to bleach.

NO.
NO NO NO NO NOOOOO.

I cannot stress the no-ness of my answer enough. In order to lighten your hair you need to strip it of color, a bleach box dye will only make your hair look ORANGE. It will not fade it, that is not what generally happens especially if it is already color-treated. You need to go find a hair box dye specifically designed to lighten dark hair.

Or, you can just go with the smart choice and have a professional stylist lighten your hair. They have the right materials and training to do what you want them to.
I would suggest you take a look around at several places and try to find someone who specializes in hair color.

Karolyn, I'm not familiar with that particular dye, but if it's only a semi-permanent one and your hair is darker than that then you're going to have to bleach/lighten your hair before you can get that to show up. Semi-permanent dyes just deposit the color on top of your hair so if you have darker hair than that it won't show up.

I have this friend who dyes her hair at home by herself and she has terrible hair. They look like straw sticking out of her head and it's gross. How come that happens to her but not anyone else?? huh.gif
