A TIXI CINNABAR LACQUER CIRCULAR BOX AND COVER
EARLY MING DYNASTY, 14TH/15TH CENTURY

The upper surface and sides deeply carved with fluid swirling classic-scrolls exposing layers of red, yellow and black lacquer, the interiors and base lacquered black, left side of the countersunk base incised vertically with Zhangcheng Zao mark
4 4/1 in. (10.8 cm.) diam., Japanese wood box
