The Life and Times of Rabbit

Okay, why the hell are people looking for this?  I have no clue.  I’m not even a big fan of Alice x Marisa, let alone yandere Alice.  As much as I like her character concept, fanon Alice is just not my cup of tea.  Canon Alice is pretty awesome though.  I suppose if you really want to know, the story involves Alice chaining Marisa up in her basement after going batshit crazy and then going to the Scarlet Devil Mansion and murdering everyone inside before decapitating Patchouli and bringing her head back home to show poor little Mari.  I could figure out at least that much, but I don’t understand those hard nippon words so I don’t know anything else about what’s going on.  The main thing that struck me about this story was the tragedy of how much Alice worked on the whole scheme only for Marisa to tear it to shreds with her simple obliviousness.  She even went to Yuka to get beautiful flowers.  It was kinda touching in that way, I guess.

Aside from Alice x Marisa not really doing it for me, there was one other problem I had with the video and that was the ending.  It couldn’t really decide whether it wanted to be a dark fic or some kind of slash fic where Alice “earns” her happy ending in some kind of demented way.  I mean it would have been a really tragic story if it had ended right there, and then Yukari comes along and presumably resurrects everyone which renders the entire story meaningless.  That said, I don’t see why she wouldn’t because one of her few solidly defined canon powers is the ability to cross the border of life and death.  That raises still more questions though – would she want to use this power so lightly?  Even if it was because her friends died, Yukari has been shown to be very philosophical in canon, quoting the Analects of Confucius and other such texts, so wouldn’t she consider the implications on the cosmic order of abusing her powers?  Yes she weakened the border to allow Yuyuko to break the seal on the Saigyou Ayakashi but what if she already knew what would happen if she did?  What if she wanted Yuyuko to find out herself and stop a potential problem before it even started?

There are plenty of core assumptions to that line of argument too.  Let’s just say that this is why I generally stay away from fics like these that take relationships to their logical conclusion.  If you’re going to do so ask yourself this: why wouldn’t Yukari intervene?  Hitting the reset button after setting up a dark fic cheapens the whole experience.
