Old "comfort women" hold demonstration in Manila

Filipino elderly protesters, who were forced to become 'comfort women' by Japanese soldiers during World War II, hold a demonstration in Manila, the Philippines, May 13, 2009. The protest was spurred by the moves of the Philippine government's Solicitor General's office requesting the Supreme Court to dismiss all pending cases in connection to US Marine Daniel Smith. Smith was acquitted last month by the Court of Appeals for raping a Filipino woman. (Xinhua/Luis Liwanag)
