Farming is a skill which is based on your INT. In order to get 100% farming, you need at least 50 INT points. The hoe, which is what you use to farm with requires very little strength to hold, but full swing is 65 STR. The Hoe can be bought for 300 gp and repaired from the Blacksmith for 150 at 0 endurance.

To start farming you'll need to buy the farming manual from the shop, for 100 gp. It will raise your farming skill to 20%. You'll then need to buy some seed bags. Each seed bag has a particular skill %' which you need in order to farm it. Start with Watermelon and work your way up.

In order to farm, you need to use the farming patches found in the town and farm area of both Aresden and Elvine. They are brown patches of dirt. You double click on the seed bag, and then place the cursor over the dirt. Once you've planted the crop, you then hold down the control button, using the Hoe you farm the plant. The items that your farming will appear under your feet. On occasion, an item can fall on the spot where you've planted as the last hit connects.

The plant grows in three stages. It can time out (disappear) after a few minuets of being planted, so it's not wise to have a huge amount going at any one time. Other people can also come along and train farming on your plants. Each plant drops from none, two, some times more items.

Plants can also be used for training kills on as you are able to hit them. They have a high number of hit-points, which makes them ideal for training weapons, bows and or wands. You need the 20% farming skill to plant the seeds.
