The government is planning to introduce a motion, which will reward people who report on restaurants that are reselling leftover food. The Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs says rewards will be up to W200,000 in value with guaranteed anonymity (US$1=W1,336).
Also retailers, such as convenience stores and small grocery shops, are obliged to indicate the nutritional value of products popular among children. These include hamburgers, sausages and gimbap (rice wrapped in seaweed). The bill is expected to be presented in the middle of next month following public hearings.
