(May 13) - A 2-year-old boy was struck and killed by a mini-roller coaster after he slipped away from his parents and ran onto the tracks, British media reported Wednesday.
Erjon Hyseni was attending a fair on Ducketts Common in North London when the accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities said Erjon had been playing in an inflatable bouncy castle but ran off and climbed onto the tracks of the "Go-Gator" kiddie roller coaster.

"I understand the young boy had just finished playing on an inflatable ride and then ran over onto the tracks of the Go-Gator, a juvenile ride," Keith Miller, general secretary of the Showman's Guild, told Sky News Online.
"There would have been a barrier surrounding the roller coaster but he must have found a way around it," Miller said.
The operator of the Go-Gator ride applied the brakes but could not stop the carriages in time, officials said.
"I think everyone heard the terrified screams of the mother of the little boy. She was in a very bad state. She was crying and screaming," Dorothy Murphy, 88, who lives near the fairground, told the Daily Mail.

Erjon was taken by ambulance to The Royal London Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The fair was closed after the accident.

Execvicepres... you must have never had to control more than 1 kid @ a time. For your info it only took about 15 seconds for the whole ordeal from start to finish. Soon as he slipped away...he was caught. Just like that. I have 4 kids and a husband & I do a damned good job on keeping them safe. I think you need to stick to a subject that you are a little more experienced on.

Yes, children should absolutely be watched like hawks because they can get into anything and everything. But what many of you are missing, is that you only have the perception that you have been watching your children at all times. Whether you choose to admit it or not, there have been times that your child has been out of your direct line of sight, even for a moment, because that's about how long it takes for things to go really wrong. That is, unless the two of you stare at each other for hours, and you don't cook, clean, go to the bathroom, eat, talk on the phone, read, watch tv, turn your head---you get my point. The difference is that for whatever reason--luck, divine intervention, etc.--it didn't happen, and you are quick to forget those times. Anytime a child dies in an accident, someone is going to find a way to blame the parent for it---although sometimes it IS their fault.

That is a popular kids carnival ride. This story is very sad. I couldn't imagine seeing my child or any child be killed, hit or injured by anything. Especiall something thats suppose to be so much fun! I was looking at the other tragedies at amusement parks/carnivals and I've already decided not to even ride the coasters any more. They throw me around too much and sometimes when I get off I have to gather my bearings. I've been jerked and my head just doesn't feel right. Maybe its because of my age. I'm 38 and in good health but I'll miss the fun, I'm just not trying to die on a ride especially when I had warnings prior!

Wow, people really are heartless when hiding behind a keyboard. Rest In Peace, dear little boy. And my heart goes out to the family.

I am a mother of two girls. Gosh nothing moves faster than a little boy all pumped up with joy and cotten candy. We have these great fairs in Texas. But there are gates between the kids and the rides. And kids cannot get in harms way. This is an awful ordeal. But it is the responsibility of the fair grounds to keep there rides from the kids. I am not saying that it is the poor guy who was maning the machine. I bet he did not have any help with the crowds and lines and machine. He cannot be a fence too. I would sue the company who put this place up...till there was no tomorrow for them,

our local town carnival has that ride and we have a fence up so lil kids cant run on the thing. Its the carnivals fault for not putting up a fence like every other carnival has

I work in the amusement park industry, and i can tell you for a fact that Amusement Park rides are totally safe. The faults are with the humans around them. IE, untrained operators, bad maintenance, or human error, which has happened here. The ride performed as it is intended to. This is 100 percent the fault of the parents. Some common sense would have also helped in putting a fence around the ride.
