QUOTE (Soapopolous @ Apr 4 2009, 01:16 AM) It depends if your hair color is dyed and how long ago it was dyed. There's a lot of things that can vary by situation. I think if you dyed your hair jet black and you want to go blonde your hair is going to be pretty fried because you'll have to lift the black off. Make sure to a professional hairstylist! I dyed my hair black in late November and now it faded to a dark dark brown.

i would recommend going to a salon and getting it done. you have to strip the black. even though it has faded to your eyes, the black is still there. so just bleaching it won't do. that's why most people who go jet black should make sure that they want to stay jet black and not go back to a lighter hair color.
plus your roots have grown out so it will be much lighter than the bottom. i once bleached my jet black hair after it had grown out after 6 months and the bottom did not change color at all. my roots were light blonde/white blonde. i wanted to cry after i saw it. had to go to the salon to get it fixed.
so just be careful because it can turn out to be a disaster...go to a salon. it will be expensive but it's worth it.

QUOTE (.Akira @ Apr 4 2009, 12:46 AM) My friend dyed a Jet Black before. .. And she wanted a Light Blond.
Soo i had to bleach it in 2 session. That was after her first session. .. Only bleach without coloring.

It really depends if you know how you do your bleach. Never use the bleaching already made. Because it doesnt work.
i would recommend you to buy peroxide and bleaching powder. " better if you can find someone who knows how to mix it properly and DO IT for you" Wow, that turned out nice. Great job! By any chance do you have a certain brand you'd recommend or even specific instructions/tips/advice so as to minimize overall damage to the hair?

Use 40 volume for bleaching *always* ~ I have to recommend this to customers everyday @ work gahhh
Add a plastic cap and apply heat You don't need as much heat roots - an inch down because of the scalps natural heat make sure you watch it get to that pale blonde
I think it's best to do it in one go unless you have reasons not to Brands differ place to place I suggest asking a stylist you go to, or know? (maybe a family member, friend etc) sometimes they can get you some good products if you pay & it's half price or less b/c of discount
If not head out to a beauty supply & find the most knowledgeable person there for suggestions; please note, if you go to sally's a lot of the time the people there don't know what they're talking about.
+ you can add a toner afterward ^-^v Then go deep condition; 911 emerg. pack (comes in a tube too), or Lanza Trauma Treatment, Moi-Moi Masque by Lanza, etc Deep condition for at least 4 weeks, 2x's a week
If you're doing it yourself, make sure you section it good, have a good view mirror wise. Roots first, leave the bleach on them - then head on to the rest of your hair Idknow how much it will cost you there @ a salon b/c it's different for me (the job I have + friends with the salon owner, workers = 100-200$$ off)
If money is a problem, you can always go into a salon and just get tips, etc on how to do it what's best, you know that kind of thing if there's a beauty school nearby you can make an appt. with someone about to grad out and have them do it ...at least that's how it is out here
Either way, if your hair isn't completely screwed over you can def achieve the color you want, but know that it can be hard work Best to have someone do it for you the first time

QUOTE (.Akira @ Apr 4 2009, 01:03 AM) ^
a 40 vol. peroxide is really damaging. I'll recommend you to use a 30 vol. and a 40 vol. if some parts of the hair doesn't bleach.
like put it only on the parts that isn't equalize Would be better to hav. some helps from someone. in case you miss some parts =D
Regarding the final result. Buy the correct color and dye and it. Suggest you to dye the color after 1 or 2 days after the bleach.
However. she said almost everything. hope this was helpful ~ So true, but then again >ugh sadly< everything that comes with bleaching, dying, etc is damaging 40 gets the job done much quicker, but if there isn't any rush 30 is also good, but it will take more time Anything higher than 40 volume requires a license, which is good because there'd be so many baldies going around wearing wigs haha ------ As for the color correcter you mentioned (^), if you don't want to do that there are some brands (both reg & professional) that are in shampoo/conditioner form that can do that I suck @ my job because I can't even think of the names at the moment haha Remember girls/boys don't rush it! be patient If you wear contacts, seriously take 'em out & have someone do it for you same with glasses ~_~ just helps really ! Err, do creme developer not the liquid Make sure to mix it really well too could go badly if you don't

at least it damages a bit less =D. heheee.
a treatment would be good too eh. ~ Sooo true A treatment is worth it completely ---- It may seem like a lot of work, but if you do it right you won't be disappointed! If you add heat to your hair, use a thermal protector before doing so even if it's a low heat be gentle when washing your hair as well ahh, which reminds me I need to go to my stylist and get my hair re-dyed gray the annoying itching I'll have to suffer, hahah darrrnnn

i would recommend you to buy peroxide and bleaching powder. " better if you can find someone who knows how to mix it properly and DO IT for you" Your friends turned out so nice. My friend got hers professionally done (was jet black prior and she's a natural dirty dish washer blonde). They bleached it twice at the salon yet the bottom half of her hair remained more orange. They didn't wanna dye her hair a 3rd time because it would have killed her hair (and it was already damaged a lot). She paid $200 and hers didn't look as nice as your friends does. it's really tough to go from jet black to blonde...even when u get it done professionally it can go wrong.

^ I agree, don't do it by yourself! But isn't lightening = bleaching? Lightening is just a professional word. QUOTE (lolitanicole @ Apr 4 2009, 01:19 AM) So true, but then again >ugh sadly< everything that comes with bleaching, dying, etc is damaging 40 gets the job done much quicker, but if there isn't any rush 30 is also good, but it will take more time Anything higher than 40 volume requires a license, which is good because there'd be so many baldies going around wearing wigs haha ------ As for the color correcter you mentioned (^), if you don't want to do that there are some brands (both reg & professional) that are in shampoo/conditioner form that can do that I suck @ my job because I can't even think of the names at the moment haha Remember girls/boys don't rush it! be patient If you wear contacts, seriously take 'em out & have someone do it for you same with glasses ~_~ just helps really ! Err, do creme developer not the liquid Make sure to mix it really well too could go badly if you don't LOL @ baldies Quick isn't really the key because her hair is going to be really damage~. Imagine the damage is all over the head. 40 volume is definitely going to fry her hair. Even though it's harder to bleach the jet black artificial color out of her hair, but using 20 volume is better. Using 20 volume takes more time but the result comes out a lot more less damaging and the hair looks more natural (less brassy). Using heat is going to add more damage. After bleaching, if you want a natural looking medium blonde, you should tone it. Get the toner that is the same level of your bleached hair. As for conditioning, you can use a hair mask (use deep conditioner if you don't have hair mask) on damp hair and cover it with a plastic bag for half an hour or so then rinse once a week. Don't shampoo your hair everyday, only shampoo as needed. Condition in between . QUOTE (*PeACH*IT*UP* @ Apr 7 2009, 06:18 PM) >.< I have a question. >.<
What form of bleach lightner is better, powder or cream? @__@ Cream is less penetrating, it's usually use on the scalp so it will not get irritated. On the other hand, powder bleach is use off scalp, more ammonia, dries out faster.
