21 Tech Tips Everyone Should Know

Our collection of personal tech often resembles that scene from the movie 'Titanic' in which Rose wanders into the ship's vast engine room. The whooshing and clanking of giant pistons and the hiss of boilers make an impressive show of 20th Century steampunk automation, but the dozens of underpaid chumps shoveling coal into the machines do not.

You have plenty of high-tech toys -- PCs, cell phones, social-networking sites -- to make your life easier. But you're still shoveling coal if you don't turn on the right features, automate certain tasks, consolidate gadgets and make use of shortcuts. Invest some time in mastering these 21 tips, and your tech life will sail full steam ahead.
