I was working in Mexico City for the US State Dep't in '85 when the 8.3 quake hit. There was absolutely no warning, but the 7.6 one that hit a few days later had hundreds of minor quakes prior to it. It was my first earthquake, and I was on the 17th floor of the El Presidente when it hit. Being from New Orleans, it was a new experience. But, riding out Katrina was worse. It hit during the night and go on forever! Sorry, typo!
