History folder in ie6 not working properly

1.I have history items set to be saved for twenty eight days, but only a few days are saved.

2. I think the above answer might have something to do with trying to put the history folder in the startup folder. I followed the registry thing, and did it once before with no problem. But this time, when I put the history folder in the start folder, there were no days saved at all; it was always empty and I couldn't figure out the problem, so I just deleted it from the start folder.

PLEASE HELP!

THX

Ummm - why do you want to save your history? I don't, but then, that's a habit.

OK - why move the folder?

First, this is win98, right? Then, if you go to tools>internet options> and delete all the history entries, what happens? That is probably the few that are showing up.

You could try to make a history folder in the windows directory and see if it works.

Otherwise, I'd try the IE repair tool (add/remove programs>IE 6 >uninstall and it will give you a choice of repair) That may get your system file back. Or, re-install IE and see if it comes home that way. There is a command line script to do this, but I'd have to dig for it.

Still - why keep history?

I'll try your suggestion, thx...

but why keep history? Lets say Ive been searching, and in 2 days I remember going to a SPECIFIC page that I want to go back to. I can check it out in the history, because as soon as I see the name, I'll be reminded...but that's just a habit.

thx again

I tend to bookmark pages into a pending folder or copy urls into a text file. If I don't remeber what they are for in a couple of days, I delete them.

Let us know how it turns out.

If you could delete the folder in Windows, it couldn't have been your History folder at all - Windows won't allow you to delete that.

I suspect you put a link to it on the Start MENU - am I right? In that case, what version of Windows are you using (I shouldn't have to ask).
