The President and the CEO of Turkish Airlines, Ph.D. Temel KOTIL made a public announcement regarding the plane crash of Istanbul- Amsterdam Flight Number TK 1951:
We are deeply saddened by the tragic accident in which our Boeing-737-800 type aircraft, flight TK 1951 from Istanbul to Amsterdam, crashed as it was approaching to land on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Airport of Amsterdam. From the very first moment that the accident occurred, Turkish Airlines has established a crisis coordination center. And we also deployed all the resources to assist the families of our passengers with a close cooperation of the Civil Aviation Authorities both in Turkey and the Netherlands. The scheduled flights of Turkish Airlines are being operated under a normal and full security program just as it was planned. In our sad condition our only consolation is that the total loss of life and the number of injuries are fewer than expected in such an accident. We offer our condolences to the families and friends of the passengers and crew members who lost their lives, and a speedy recovery to those passengers who are being treated for injuries. We pray for the souls of the deceased to rest in peace.
