Not on an XP machine right now, but Win2K uses a config.nt file to do things like
"files="
I believe it's in the system32 directory (look it up in Help...
Good Luck

You only need it for programs that need MS-DOS emulation session, the config.nt
was used only when initiating a MS-DOS emulation session. You can safely delete
the config.sys and autoexec.bat files

I'm running windows 2k, trying to use a MS-Dos emulation for a great old game. It
needs buffers set to 20 or greater to install. unfortunately it doesn't respond
to a buffers=20 statement in the config.nt file (it still shows it set to 0), although
whenever i change the files value, it deos respond.
Any ideas?

I keep getting XP crashes (Upgrade from 98) on shutdown when running various programs,
(I have Roxio Easy CD Creator - and am aware of the past problems - but have updated
to the new version). Once the system has crashed, I get a startup message "config.sys
missing or corrupt" and cannot recover. I use "Go Back" to get the system up again.
But if I get this message, how can this file not be used?

I have the same problem. I need more ISAM buffers in the FILES= statement. Do you
have a way to change it yet?

Windows XP:
C:\WIndows\System32
Autoexec.nt
Config.nt
Open in notepad, it explains all.

how do i fix error message saying "Stack overflow at line: 3030"

anyone know how to fix error message saying "Stack overflow at line: 3030" ?
Windows online recommends modifying config.sys file to maximize file space. But you
guys advise that XP does not use config.sys and it should actually be deleted.
What's up with that? Anybody? This only occurs when launching my radio player.
Thanks.
