Prison suicides up to 12 in 2008Thursday 05 February 2009 Twelve people committed suicide while in detention last year, three fewer than in 2007, according to figures sent by junior justice minister Nebahat Albayrak to parliament on Thursday, reports ANP news service. Socialist MP Krista van Velzen asked for the figures following the fourth suicide within a year at a prison in Haarlem.
