Shoestring traveler ups batting average at short-term guest house

Travelers in Japan in search of inexpensive, short-term lodgings often turn to institutions called "guest houses." Such abodes, which charge as little as 2,000 yen a night for a place to flop, appear to be in particularly wide use on Japan's southern island prefecture of Okinawa, where young people often go on short-term work arrangements of, say, from six months to one year.
And so it came to pass that Goro Ohminami, a 25-year-old freelance worker from Osaka, saved up enough money for a two-month sojourn. And, as Uramono Japan (April) reports, he turned out to be a happy camper indeed.
The co-educational nature of the lodgings and generally casual atmosphere, it seems, prove exceptionally conducive to getting laid.
The first guest house in question, referred to as "D," was one of 50 such establishments in Naha, Okinawa's largest city, located not far from Kokusai Dori, the local equivalent of Tokyo's Ginza.
Upon checking in, D's owner informed Ohminami that the separate floor to the guest house was basically a females-only dormitory that was full to capacity. In addition to shared rooms, it seemed that D also offered private accommodations.
And, as Ohminami was to discover, the guest houses on Okinawa go in for lots of socializing.
"I'd stayed in guest houses all over mainland Japan, in Hokkaido and Nagano for instance, on any number of occasions, but there's nothing like Okinawa," Ohminami gushes to Uramono Japan.
His first opportunity arose on the fifth day at "D," when he spotted a gal named Yuko, aged 26, who was preparing some food in D's communal kitchen.
"Oh dear, I've whipped up too much goya chamburu," she said, naming a stir-fried dish made with bitter gourd and other local delectables.
Yuko generously invited Ohminami to partake with him in her private room, where, after the meal, she produced a bottle of awamori, a potent Okinawan liquor, and they raised a friendly toast.
After a few cups, she was in her cups and in the mood to open up about what she was doing in Okinawa.
"Just before coming here, I'd broken off with my boyfriend," she confesses.
"Ah," he replies. "You know, I came down here for the same reason, to forget about what's her name ..."
After an hour of increasingly well lubricated chitchat, Ohminami decided to make his move. He gently pressed against Yuko's clavicle and she obediently tumbled over onto her back. After slipping off her over and under garments, he was ministering to her libidinous needs, while she panted with pleasure.
"What really turned me on," he recalls, "was knowing that while we were doing it, there was probably another woman on the other side of that thin wall, and that she could almost certainly hear us going at it!"
So stimulated, Ohminami had trouble containing himself, and blasted off after about 3 minutes of pounding away.
Not long afterward, our hero transferred to guest house "T" on Miyakojima island, where on his second day he encountered Ryoko. Aged 25, she apparently made regular visits to the island and preferred inexpensive guest houses to accommodations at the pricier beach hotels.
"Are you here alone?" he asked.
"Yes," she replied. "Before I'd stayed here for one month, but this time I just took off a few days from work."
The two shared a few cold drinks at a shop near the beach, which they repeated the next day. On the way back to the guest house, Ryoko demonstrated her frisky side, reaching out to grasp his hand. The signal was unmistakable, and soon they were horizontal.
"Lick me. Please," she implored, grinding her hips.
"Here? Like this?"
"Ah. Oh, yes ... Now harder. Ahhhh ..."
He made it with her three times that night, and was called back the next night for a repeat performance.
At their parting, she admitted to him, "You know it was at this guest house where I first met the guy who I just broke up with."
Over his two-month period of residence in the guest houses of Okinawa, Ohminami tells Uramono Japan he scored six times. En route back home to Osaka, he decided his short-term future objective would be to squirrel away enough funds for another trip south, hopefully soon.
