China denies dumpling problems

BEIJING (Kyodo) Chinese officials are saying there were no serious food-poisoning cases involving employees at a company who ate frozen dumplings that had been recalled after leaving several people in Japan ill, the state-controlled Xinhua News Agency reported.

A worker at Chengde Iron and Steel Co. experienced discomfort after eating the "gyoza" dumplings, but the man was fine after taking a rest, according to an official of the Hebei Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission.

The official made the comment after Japanese media reported Saturday that some employees at Tangshan Iron and Steel Co. showed symptoms of food poisoning after eating the dumplings made and recalled by Tianyang Food.

A piece of your mind
The power of Internet forums
2channel is one of Japan's most influential Web sites, partly because its forums allow users to post freely and anonymously. The flip side is that this makes it a magnet for lawsuits, which might be why 2channel has recently shifted its ownership overseas. What is your stance on freedom of speech in Internet forums?
Everyone should be entitled to speak his/her mind freely
Repeatedly disruptive forum participants should be banned
Net forums need to be self-regulated
Nicknames are fine, but ultimately, users should be verified and accountable
Lawmakers need to develop clearer regulations for Internt forums
Who cares? There are more important things to worry about
