Chinese workers ill after dodgy dumplings

Posted January 24, 2009 12:42:00

A Chinese company says some of its employees became sick after eating dumplings that had been recalled from Japan because of a food-poisoning scare.

The Chinese-made frozen dumplings were recalled from Japanese supermarkets because some of the products had been tainted with a chemical that caused food poisoning.

The dumplings were subsequently delivered to a steel-making company in China's Hebei province, where several employees became sick after eating them.

Japanese media is reporting that the company that produced the dumplings gave them to the steel-making firm for free.
