The art of cachongas, bazongas, kajoobies, etc.
The art of cachongas, bazongas, kajoobies, babaloos, blouse bunnies and shirt puppies
By Ryann Connell Staff Writer A sports day for Osaka artists turned out to be a real hooter in mid-October thanks to one diminutive grandmother who came up with a real booby prize, according to Shukan Taishu (11/10). Artist Misa's F-Cup Relay involved runners attaching an enormous pair of humongous mammaries that they exchanged with teammates instead of a baton in a relay race of one lap around Utsubo Park in Osaka's Nishi-ku. Over 50 people took part in the relay and, though there may have been titters and jeers from knockers, most found the relay far from melon-choly and laughs abounded. "I got the idea after taking part in an art exhibition in Venice, Italy, in June," Misa tells Shukan Taishu, adding that breasts are an issue she keeps close to her heart. [Shukan Taishu is a weekly newsmagazine that focuses on Japanese popular culture. ----JA] "Boobs are all about a mother's heart. The first thing people partake of in their lives are breasts," she says. "Boobs aren't all about erotica. Kids who grow up being held tightly into their mother's breasts, grow up to be good, strong kids. Boobs are a wonderful example for life." Though dabbling in sculpting, Misa's real love in the art world is flower arrangement. She runs flower arranging classes in the Osaka suburb of Hirakata. Misa has been teaching her floral art classes for 30 years. Misa made a set of breasts for a private exhibition centered on the human body she gave in Sendai in September. For a show in Kyoto last month, she also created another set of breasts notable for the piercing light that streamed out of the nipples. Misa says the breasts she makes are constructed out of swimsuit material filled with polystyrene beans. Though Misa places enormous emphasis on how her works are related to motherhood, she has to abs-orb the activities of her grandchildren to keep abreast of the activities of the maternal world. Those some may find Misa's works udderly disgusting, and others titillating, she is convinced that she's not making a boo-boo. "I created these objects because I wanted people to enjoy them," she tells Shukan Taishu. "I don't think there's a person anywhere who could get angry at the sight of some boobs." ------------------------------------------------------------------------ WaiWai stories are transcriptions of articles that originally appeared in Japanese language publications.
