Forfar booked a home tie against Rangers in the Scottish Cup after demolishing Forres in round four.
The third Division side opened the scoring after two minutes through Graeme Gibson followed by an own goal from Forres' Bruce Milne.
The Highlanders pulled one back through Ryan Green in the 23rd minute but Stephen Tulloch, Ross Campbell and Kevin Gordon made it 5-1 at the break.
Gordon completed the rout in the 54th minute with a stunning volley.
Forfar manager Dick Campbell:
"I'm quite sure everyone connected with Rangers will know how difficult a game it will be against us here.
"Nobody's expecting us to win, but it's a cup tie and we'll just get in about them, get the sleeves rolled up, and see if we can upset them a bit.
"It was well documented when I came here that we are in debt and this tie will go a long way to clearing that debt.
"Maybe it'll also give me a wee bit more money to progress the football club."
