Anyone heard of her??? well in my case, the first time i ever heard of her is when she released her single Daisuki da yo . Thats when i started to become her fan! :D she really have a cute voice and is pretty too!!! I really love her songs and you should hear it!!!

Biography:
A piano player since age 4, Otsuka composes and co-produces her songs. She also writes her own lyrics. Her music ranges from upbeat catchy pop/rock music that can be heard in tracks like Happy Days and Sakuranbo to touching ballads like Daisuki da yo and Amaenbo.

Otsuka's debut album LOVE PUNCH was released in March 2004 and was a huge success, earning Otsuka nicknames such as "The New Guru of Love". Her second single called "Sakuranbo" stayed on the Oricon charts for 85 weeks. Surprisingly, Ai's second album, LOVE JAM, was released only 8 months after her first in November 2004. It debuted at #1.

In other work, Ai has acted in the "Tokyo Friends" dorama. She also has a radio show called "Otsuka Ai ai-r Jack" and has appeared in various CMs. Furthermore, Otsuka pens column in two Japanese magazines; "Love Column" in Zipper and "Love World ~ Eye Love Pictures" in B-Pass. Kimi iro Omoi, Otsuka's first photobook, was released on March 1st 2005.

A talented graphic artist as well, the first pressings of her albums and some singles have included a limited edition picture book illustrated by Ai herself. Many of her illustrations can be seen at the Gallery section of her official website.

JAM PUNCH Tour 2005, her first tour began on April 24, 2005. It completed in June 2005 and a Live DVD with footage will be released on July 27, 2005. LOVE COOK, her 3rd album was released on December 14, 2005. Frienger, Ai's latest single was released on April 12, 2006. Her next single Yumekui releases August 2, 2006.

ai was a girl live in village,
one day she went to tokyo to search for her dream but ended up be a waitress in a small restaurant
one day there was a band visiting the restaurant, the guitarist was drunk, she sing "twinkle-2 lil star(jap version)" to wake him up
the guy attract her voice and ask her to join their band as vocalist
from there these 2 develop their relationships..the guitarist composed song mainly express guy feeling but ai is a girl, he thinks he type of songs can't suite the band therefore he join other band for good
from there, ai started composed, learn guitar and their band continue without his bf
day ai follow the band and performed on the street, outside stadium etc etc while at night she work in the restaurant..
she met 3 other girls in the restaurants and 4 of them have different dreams in their mind...
story goes on when the band was sign under a small unknown record label while ai's bf new band going to debut their single...
debut when wrong, all of the members get caught of fighting while drunk except ai bf who never when for celebrate their debut
ai's bf can't accept this and decide to run away and hide
ai's band now going to debut but found out that her bf was hiding in NY, so she left for NY to search her bf..END

now waiting the movie to release and see the ending..

Kumi Koda: She sells CDs by being sex-sure.Dirty diva Kumi Koda seemed to have the Japanese music world at her feet thanks to an arousing amalgamation of sexy outfits and racy tunes, but a new rival has emerged to threaten her position -- even within her own record label, according to Shukan Shincho (8/31).

Koda, last year's winner of the Nihon Record Taisho -- Japan's equivalent to the Grammys -- is aiming to double up in the country's most prestigious music award, but Ai Otsuka has come out of virtually nowhere to usurp Koda's title as J-pop's heir apparent to the throne currently held by Ayumi Hamasaki.

Making the rivalry even fiercer, like Hamasaki, Koda and Otsuka both belong to Avex Inc., Japan's most powerful popular record label.

"When an artist makes a name for themselves at Avex, the company sets them up with a support team of their own. The number of people in the team reflects the popularity of the artist. (At the start of the year) Ayumi Hamasaki had the biggest support team, with about 30 members, Koda's team had around 20 and Otsuka was in third, with a team a little bit smaller than Koda's," an entertainment beat reporter tells Shukan Shincho.

Things have changed a little recently that have got Koda and Otsuka at odds.

"Otsuka's team has been increased to about the same size as Koda's. The music industry is in a real slump at the moment.

Avex is feeling the pinch and needs to find new ways of making money. The company's emphasis is shifting toward its movie-making division. That's why Otsuka appeared in the movie 'Tokyo Friends.' This was a straight-to-DVD product.

In a line where sales of 10,000 units is judged to be a huge hit, 'Tokyo Friends' sold 50,000 copies," the hack says. Otsuka ripping up the charts inside Avex has got Koda cringing.

"They're both 23, but Koda spent a lot more time working her way up through the ranks. Otsuka's rise has been meteoric in comparison. And (unlike Koda) she's now making movies," a TV network insider tells Shukan Shincho. "Koda was popular last year for being behind the erotic-cute phenomena, but she's still doing the same thing now. Some say she knows people are gonna get sick of her gimmick eventually. Koda's rivalry with Otsuka has more than a little jealousy in it."

Trailing behind Koda not so long ago, Otsuka has now moved on to equal footing.

"Avex held a concert for its shareholders in June. Ayumi Hamasaki took the top billing, but Otsuka was given second billing, with Koda after her. Koda was furious," the TV insider says. "Koda and Otsuka are bitterly opposed to each other and make little secret of their rivalry. Koda goes around saying that Otsuka has no talent. And Otsuka says that Koda is 'vulgar' and 'acts like a cheap, nightclub hostess.'"

Their battle has made Koda's quest to repeat her Nihon Record Taisho win even more desperate than ever.

"Winning a second award would restore her place in the pecking order. But Otsuka is standing in her way," the entertainment beat reporter says.

Avex, however, disputes the accounts.

"They belong to the same record company, so there's no question of a dispute," an Avex spokesman says.

Music critic Masaaki Hiruma says that the problem is not whether Koda and Otsuka are at each other's throats.

"It's the ridiculous way they both desperately want to win the Nihon Record Taisho. It's a really tacky fight," the critic tells Shukan Shincho. "Unfortunately, it's also a sign of how far the prestigious award has fallen." (By Ryann Connell)

hana yori dango was a jodrama based off the manga (hana yori dango, translated as flowers over boys). she did teh ending song.


but i think that ai has a better clothing taste than koda and a better voice. koda's music is very repetitive and she's a single whore. that 12 single campaign was crazy and insane.

I like her music. Her latest album LOVE PiECE is actually quite good. Too bad there were only five new songs. Her last single Pocket which was released on the 7th of November is a nice single. I prefer the second track Ticket from this single more than Pocket.

ah, i love ai otsuka ! her style is just amazing. haha she played the piano since she was 4 - thats when i started too . i think my first song i heard from her was daisuke dayo... ever since then ive always listened to her newest albums/singles ^^ Ai no Theme is so cuute :D people think shes annoying from her more cutesy, upbeat songs.. but i like that style LOL. those type of songs make me want to get up and run around :P
her featured song in hyd is so moving.. i was sad that they discarded it in 2nd seas. and used utadas song, cause it isnt as sad as planetarium, which is more suitable in the situations whenever they played it..

Ah the first time i heard her song was when watching hanazakari (jap hanakimi) :) she did the theme song 'peach'. i loved it when i heard it, it was such a happy song and her video clip looked really cheerful and bubbly. fan of hers :]
