Nana Tanimura may have her knockers, but the G-cup law student with an artistic bent is out to prove her new way of rising to the top has been no booby, according to Sunday Mainichi (6/1).

The 20-year-old singer-songwriter is one of the new wave of Japanese celebrities making it big through the Internet instead of through mainstream media.

Tanimura made her debut a year ago with the single “Again,” with an online release of the music video.

Male fans ogling her bountiful bust provided her initial break, but she’s since attracted widespread support from women who like the power she emits.

Sunday Mainichi notes that Tanimura’s recently released third single, “Jungle Dance,” debuted at No. 24 on the Amazon sales chart on the day it went out and that voters in a poll on MSN Music elected her the performer most likely to make their big break this year.

Osaka-born Tanimura spent her early school years traveling between the city of her birth and Hawaii, while also lists a stint living in Los Angeles. She was a top-class student at school and is now studying law at posh Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo.

“I’d like to bring together people from different cultures,” she tells Sunday Mainichi, explaining why she is focusing on international law and combining it with a singing career. “Music also brings people together.”

Tanimura has made no secret of her lofty ambitions in the music world, either.

“I don’t want to be some (manufactured) idol. I want to be an artist. I want to be a globally recognized songstress,” the weekly quotes her telling one interviewer.

Tanimura also hopes to bring an American link to her career.

“I’m a huge fan of Christine Aguilera,” she tells Sunday Mainichi. “I’d love to do a show with her at Tokyo Dome.”
