Sendo always had an interest in the national affliction of chikan -- the name the Japanese give to those who feel up female commuters on the country's jam-packed trains.
But Sendo confined his interest to watching videos dedicated to the genre up until four years ago. It seems the molestation movies made for blokes like him were just a tad too authentic.
"After watching them for a while, I realized I could probably get into the act for myself," he says.
At 33, he started riding trains just so he could fondle women's buttocks. It led to his arrest, and when his employer at the time learned of his fate, dismissal.
"I first realized there was something wrong with me when I started going to sex businesses. I couldn't get a hard-on at a regular brothel, it had to be a club where the workers pretended to be commuters being molested by a chikan," the groper tells Spa! "I was totally impotent in every situation except when I was pretending to be a chikan, when I'd get as hard as a rock. It was heart-breaking."
Following his first arrest, Sendo held off from molesting anyone for two years. But the sex joint he frequented to fulfill his fantasies was caught up in a wave of police raids that swept through Tokyo, depriving him of a place to relieve his sexual frustrations. He found himself riding trains on the prowl once again, only this time he took a full-frontal approach to his victims, brazenly grabbing between their legs instead of trying to get them turn the other cheek, as it were.
"It was all because I read an online forum about a guy who'd kept on groping even after he'd been arrested. I couldn't find myself a wife and I was pretty down about my prospects for life," he says. "I'd get up early in the morning and ride the trains around before going off to work. I'd aim for the most crowded areas and just grope. I ended up getting arrested for indecent assault. I'm actually still on probation now."
Sendo says he's well aware that groping is a crime. But he says his urge to molest is an illness over which he has absolutely no control.
"It's not like you can go to a doctor and say, 'Hey, I can't get it up unless I'm groping someone,'" he says to Spa! "My family have disowned me and I can't see any way to cure me of this disease, so I've recently started coming to the conclusion that I can handle being a criminal molester for the rest of my life." "I did it out of curiosity," Mochizuki was quoted as telling investigators during questioning.
The attack occurred in a restroom at Nogizaka Station on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line on Wednesday evening, investigators said.

Nishida fondled the buttocks of a 30-year-old female doctor's on a Chuo Line train operated by East Japan Railway Co. (JR East) between Shinjuku and Nakano stations on Wednesday, local police said.
He had been arrested for molesting another woman on a train in December.

A station worker immediately went to another room to call police, and came back to the stationmaster's office to find the man sitting on a window frame. When the worker told the man, "Stop it. It's dangerous," he suddenly leaped nine meters to the ground.
He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said that Oshibuchi groped the girl as they neared Space World Station on the JR Kagoshima Line shortly after midday on Wednesday.
Police said the schoolgirl grabbed Oshibuchi's hand and planned to take him to authorities, but the man broke away, got out of the train at Kyushu Kodaimae Station and appeared to have made good his escape. The schoolgirl neither told concerned passengers what had happened nor reported the incident to the police.
But, about three hours after her ordeal, the schoolgirl boarded a train at Kokura Station. When the train stopped at Kyushu Kodaimae Station, Oshibuchi got on the same carriage as she was riding in and stood a short distance away from her. The schoolgirl and Oshibuchi recognized each other and both gave a startled gasp. This time, the girl acted quickly, grabbing Oshibuchi by his clothes, dragging him off the train at Edamitsu Station and handing him over to a station attendant.

Tayuinosho flashed his privates at a female crewmember in her 20s on the Nozomi No. 9 superexpress train on the JR Tokaido Shinkansen Line while it was traveling between Mikawa-Anjo and Nagoya stations on the morning of March 2, according to the indictment.

He admits to the allegations, apparently after concocting the scheme with his 31-year-old girlfriend to accuse guys of groping and then make them pay up big to avoid being reported to the cops.
Police said Maita and his girlfriend conspired to get her to pretend a 58-year-old salaryman had grabbed her buttocks on a crowded Midosuji Line train in Osaka on the morning of Feb. 1, with the suspect popping up and claiming to have witnessed the incident. Maita pretended as though he didn't know his girlfriend, who put on an elaborate show of crying while he "comforted" her, police said.
Nikkan Gendai notes that Maita and his girlfriend filed charges against the salaryman. But when police questioned him and then his girlfriend separately, they were both telling different stories.
Eventually, the lowbrow afternoon tabloid notes, the girlfriend owned up to the alleged scam and Maita was arrested. (By Ryann Connell)

Konan University dean Yoshimi Sugimura apologized at a news conference.
"This abominable act shook faith in university education," Sugimura said. "We apologize to the victim and to society at large."
Konan made the decision to expel Makita after talking to him and hearing him admit that he falsely reported a man for groping his girlfriend on a train. The expulsion decision was made Monday following a meeting of professors at the college.
Makita is accused of conspiring with his girlfriend to pretend somebody had groped her on the train and then demanding hush money to stop them from reporting the incident to the police.

Hirose had initially denied the allegations against him, but confessed after DNA samples from his fingertips matched DNA left on the 24-year-old Saitama Prefecture woman who accused him of molesting her on a JR Saikyo Line train.
Police said Hirose has admitted to habitually groping female commuters.
"I've molested women on trains about seven or eight times before," Hirose told the police.
Police said that Hirose put his hands down the skirt of the woman as they traveled on a Saikyo Line train from Shinjuku to Ikebukuro stations on the night of Feb. 26. When the train arrived at JR Ikebukuro Station, the woman handed Hirose over to a station attendant, who reported him to the police.
Hirose initially denied the allegations against him and there were no witnesses. However, police took a sample of the DNA from his fingerprints and analyzed it against DNA samples taken from the woman. The samples matched and Hirose was arrested on March 31.
JR East said Hirose had been employed since January, working at JR Okubo Station to explain to commuters how to operate ticket machines. It was his day off on the day of the incident, railway officials said.

Recent disclosure of a spate of incidents where innocent men were accused of molesting female passengers has turned the national spotlight back toward commuter groping, a problem so bad most railroad companies have set up women's only carriages during peak travel times in the mornings and late at night.
The recent arrest of an Osaka couple for trying to set up a middle-aged man by falsely accusing him of fondling a woman train traveler has large numbers of salarymen shaking in their boots at the thought of being blackmailed by crafty commuters looking for a quick buck. This has heightened calls on railroad companies to set up sanctuaries where men can travel in peace, safe in the knowledge that they won't be accused of molestation.
Most railroad companies say they consider the issue a serious one.
"It's true we've received over 20 formal requests for the establishment of men's only carriages since the false accusation arrest (early last month). But actually, we've been receiving requests for theses carriages for a long time now. It's not something that has started recently," a spokesman for the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau, which runs the city's subway network, tells Weekly Playboy.
But the outlook for men's only carriages seems dim.
"We get a lot of requests for them and take note of these, but we have no plans regarding carriages exclusively for men at this time," a spokesman for the East Japan Railway Co. (JR East) says.
Keio Electric Railway Co., which back in 2000 became Japan's first railroad to introduce women's only carriages, also has no current arrangements in place to correct the gender imbalance on its routes.
"We're aware that there are these demands, but we have no concrete plans for men's only carriages at this stage," a company spokesman says.
Train experts say railroad companies are quite content to sit back and let men travel in fear of being falsely accused of groping.
"I'd say there'll be an increase in women's only carriages before any men's only carriages are created. Railroad companies would rather get commuters to stagger their traveling times to avoid peak hours. I'd say it would be fairly difficult to get men's only carriages to materialize," Atsushi Umehara, one of Japan's foremost railway journalists, tells Weekly Playboy. "Railroad companies also realize Japan's population is declining, and they see that as offering their greatest relief in dealing with over-crowded trains. Baby boomers are already retiring, and the low birthrate means there is nobody popping up to replace them. That means there are going to be fewer people traveling during peak periods. That's why these companies have no intention of setting up carriages just for male commuters."
Masaki Ikegami, author of "Chikan Enzai Saiban Otoko ni Banzai Tsukin Saseruki ka (Groping False Accusation Trials - You Gonna Make Men Commute Doing Banzai Cheers All the Way to Work?)," a book about false molestation claims, says the only way men can feel secure commuting is to look after themselves.
"It's a sad situation that men have to do a banzai cheer (raise both arms skyward) while commuting (to avoid touching anyone else). Male commuters have got to look after themselves by taking such steps as avoiding standing close to carriage doors, staying well away from female commuters and never being directly behind a woman riding a train," Ikegami tells Weekly Playboy. "There are loads of people out there who have been falsely accused of groping female train travelers. I have repeatedly called on train companies to set up carriages just for men so that we can offer relief to all those with worries." (By Ryann Connell)

"Testimony from witnesses and the victim was detailed and reliable," Presiding Judge Yasuro Tanaka said as he dismissed Uekusa's appeal.
Uekusa's lawyers argued that their client was not the perpetrator of the attack on the schoolgirl and demanded his conviction be quashed.
Court records showed that on the night of Sept. 13, 2006, Uekusa fondled the buttocks of a schoolgirl as they rode on a Keihin Kyuko Line train from Shinagawa to Keikyu Kamata in Tokyo.
