26 Apr 2007 (Limun) Slovenian Minister of Public Administration Gregor Virant reminded the press at a press conference yesterday that the office hours of public administration are to change on May 1. • 29 Dec 2006 Slovenia will adopt the euro on the 1st of January 2007 at the rate of 239.640 tolars per euro, a rate fixed in July by ECOFIN ministers. From the 1st of January, Slovenians will be able to pay in euros or in tolars and receive the change in euros, until January 14. As from 15 January 2007 only euro cash will have the status of legal tender in Slovenia. However, afterwards, it will still be possible to exchange tolars free of charge at banks. Weekend Public Holidays: Public holidays that occur on a weekend remain on that date (ie. they are not moved to another date, such as the following Monday, for example). • Whitsunday (Pentecost) is an official non-working public holiday in Slovenia, but this has no real effect as Sundays are non-working days anyways.
