Background Information |
Governing Law: The official public holidays in Grenada are regulated by the Bank Holidays Act which was amended after the 1979 revolution by the People's Law No. 37: Bank Holidays (Amendment) Act 1979 (removal of Queen's birthday from the public holidays list) and after the US invasion by the Bank Holidays (Government Gazette, 1988-05-20, Vol. 106, No. 23, Ac, p. 127-128).
Carnival Tuesday: Officially, Carnival Tuesday is not one of Grenada's official public holidays (as listed on the official Government of Grenada website). However, any attempt at conducting business on that day is doomed to dismal failure.
Christmas Eve: Shopping malls and most stores remain open late into the evening on Christmas Eve (December 24).
