Governing Law: The list and dates of official public holidays in Dominica are regulated by the Shop Hours Act (1937), the Labour Standards Act (1977), and the Labour Contracts Act (1983). • National Repentance and Dedication Day: In 2005, the US State Department published a noteon its site asserting that "the Government [of Dominica] declared National Repentance and Dedication Day as a new public holiday to be celebrated annually on April 8".
