Background Information |
Governing Law: The list and dates of official public holidays in Dominica are regulated by the Shop Hours Act (1937), the Labour Standards Act (1977), and the Labour Contracts Act (1983).
National Repentance and Dedication Day: In 2005, the US State Department published a noteon its site asserting that "the Government [of Dominica] declared National Repentance and Dedication Day as a new public holiday to be celebrated annually on April 8". This mention has since been recopied word-for-word on many websites, but, as of June 2008, no other mention of this holiday has been found, official or otherwise.
