12 Sep 2008 (The Daily Herald-Willemstad) The Netherlands Antilles federal Labour Affairs Administration has confirmed that December 15 would become a new public holiday, beginning in 2008.
09 May 2008 (The Daily Herald-St. Maarten) The Parliament of the Netherlands Antilles has agreed to a law amendment making December 15, Kingdom Day, a new official holiday.
28 Apr 2006 (Nederlands Dagblad) The Netherlands Antilles federal Labour Affairs Administration has confirmed that this year, it would follow the Netherlands' handling of the rare cases when the Queen's Birthday public holiday falls on a Sunday, and that the Queen's Birthday public holiday would be celebrated in the Netherlands Antilles on Saturday, April 29, in 2006.

Governing Law: Official public holidays in the Netherlands Antilles are regulated by the Labour Regulation 2000 (National Decree of 27 July 2000 containing new regulations on working hours, working time and overtime).
Weekend Public Holidays: Public holidays that occur on a weekend remain on that date (ie. they are not moved to another date, such as the following Monday, for example).
Regional public holidays: Each Island also has its own Flag Day Holiday:
• Curaçao: July 2
• Bonaire: Sept. 6
• Sint Maarten: Nov. 11
• Sint Eustatius: Nov. 16
• Saba: The 1st Friday of Dec.
Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve: Although they are not official public holidays, some shops and businesses may be closed or will close early on these days.
Government offices, banks, the post office and most stores are closed on the official holidays listed above. Some Indian owned stores are closed on January 26 for Indian Republic Day. Jewish-owned establishments are closed for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur .
