20 Feb 2008 (The Nation News) The Government of Barbados has declared tomorrow, February 21st to be the official "Rihanna Day". That day will be marked by a free concert to be given by the teenage pop singer Rihanna.
17 Jan 2008 (Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation) Following his victory in Tuesday's elections, Barbados Prime Minister, David Thompson, declared a one-off public holiday on Friday, January 18, 2008 (note that Monday, January 21, 2008, is also a public holiday).
21 May 2003 (Caribbean Media Corporation-Bridgetown) Barbados Prime Minister, Owen Arthur, declared a public holiday for Thursday, May 22, 2003, following his re-election to a third straight term in office.

Background Information |
Where a designated Public Holiday falls on a Sunday, the day after will be celebrated.
However, Emancipation Day, in Barbados, is fixed on August 1, and will only be moved uder very specific conditions.
