To develop with JavaFX on Windows, you need version 6 of the Java Development Kit (JDK) 6 Update 7 (Update 11 recommended). On Macintosh OS X, you need JDK 5 Update 13. See System Requirements.

JavaFX 1.0 Production Suite (formerly Project Nile)

JavaFX 1.0 Production Suite enables designers to convert their rich media assets to JavaFX format and view the converted files before handing them off to JavaFX application developers. JavaFX 1.0 Production Suite consists of three components:

  • JavaFX Plugin for Adobe Photoshop (exports graphics in Photoshop to JavaFX format)
  • JavaFX Plugin for Adobe Illustrator (exports graphics in Illustrator to JavaFX format)
  • JavaFX Media Factory (converts SVG files to JavaFX format and provides a Viewer for displaying JavaFX format files)
