Denkaosan Kaovichit needs a killer instinct to dethrone WBA flyweight champion Takefumi Sakata on December 24, says trainer Khaosai Galaxy.
Former WBA super-flyweight champion Khaosai has replaced 'Ko-Hong' Pong Thawornwiwatbut as Denkaosan's coach for the highly-anticipated rematch.
Khaosai believes Denkaosan is equal to the Japanese champion in terms of both skill and strength, and just needs to make sure he is mentally focused for the fight.
In their first encounter last November, Denkaosan (48-1-1, 18KOs) controversially drew with Sakata, after the Thai was deducted a point with 20 seconds to go in the 12th round.
Denkaosan's promoter Narit Singwangcha said he was confident his fighter could topple Sakata (33-4-2, 15KOs) at the second attempt.
"We have studied Sakata in detail and we don't think there is anything to worry about," said Narit.
"We just need to make sure Denkaosan is fit and committed to winning."
Narit believes Khaosai's addition to the team will help their title mission because of his vast experience although Ko-hong's techniques and training program are still being applied.
Last week, Denkaosan stopped Filippino Dennis Juntillano in the second round in a warm-up fight. The coach said that he told Denkaosan to knock out Juntillano as fast as possible to avoid any possible injury.
