Japan's struggling flesh trade is starting to bounce back -- literally, as it turns out, because a large number of its hottest workers are made of rubber, according to Weekly Playboy (8/2).
As Japan's red-light districts grapple with clean-ups and dwindling customer numbers, services centering on pricey love dolls now represent the biggest growth spurt in the country's ejaculation industry.
"Even if they are a bit expensive, once you've bought one, you no longer have to worry about labor costs. There's no bother with absenteeism or days off for periods, either," a writer on the adult entertainment business tells Weekly Playboy. "They aren't affected by the crackdown on Tokyo's red light districts and the number of call girl services offering love dolls as workers is skyrocketing."
Mori no Doru, Japan's first love doll call girl service, is leading the way again with its plans to open a showroom in Saitama Prefecture's Nishi Kawaguchi district.
"Put simply, there are so many different types of love dolls. We figured that our customers would be happy if there was a place they could go to see for their own eyes and touch all the different sorts of dolls available," Takeshi Takagi, head of Mori no Doru's planning section, tells Weekly Playboy. "We created the adult entertainment world's first showroom. It's really highly regarded by our customers. They sort of come into the showroom and let us know which of the dolls they want."
Nearby lies Pastel Color Doll, another service using blow-up babes. It's become a standout because it offers threesomes where one of the participants is a love doll, with the customer expected to take advantage of a silicon valley that has absolutely nothing to do with the IT-heavy area in the United States.
"We started the service in May this year. After our girl licks the male customer over his entire body, he is then left to work with the doll while the girl rubs his back, or squeezes his nipples and stuff," Pastel Color Doll's manager says.
Koi, one of the workers who joins the latex lovers and customers in a menage a trios, has mixed feelings about the business.
"It was really strange the first time I took part in a
threesome. Here I was with the guy, but he was spending all his energy on the doll," Koi says. "Don't you think that's pretty insulting?"
Other services employing latex ladies include "Love Doll," the adult video released last month by blue movie director Baksheesh Yamamoto.
Ta-bo, a collector of the airhead amorous and operator of a website dedicated to the copulating cushions, says there are numerous reasons for the rising popularity of love dolls.
"I'd say the biggest reason is that people who thought of love dolls only as the blow-up type have learned just how detailed the current models really are. The Internet has also played a part, allowing people to check out looks and quality in a way they weren't able to do before unless they bought the dolls," Ta-bo tells Weekly Playboy. "What are the charms of a love doll? Personally, I find them therapeutic for both the mind and the body. But, it should be noted that they are heavy and can break at times, which can cause a lot of bother that you don't find with a real woman." (By Ryann Connell)
