Hirosue Ryoko in new ad campaigns

Hirosue Ryoko is on two ad campaigns according to an article from Mainichi Shimbun.

According to the article, “Hirosue, 26, is starring in a television commercial for Coca-Cola Japan’s new drink “Karada Meguricha,” which contains eight Eastern ingredients including Korean ginseng, and four types of tea including pu-erh tea and oolong tea.”

    Another is for “Goodbye, Hello”.

Hirosue Ryoko in summer drama special

Tokyoites and Osakans like to believe that they not only differ in terms of local customs, but that they practically come from different planets. This idea is at the heart of the "Summer Drama Special: Long Wedding Road" (TBS, Monday, 9 p.m.).

Ryoko Hirosue stars as Shizuka, a young Osaka mother who divorced her husband five years earlier because he was violent. She now works for her uncle as a long-distance truck driver. During a ferry ride, she meets Shoichi (Masaru Nagai), a doctor from Tokyo, who is immediately smitten by the artless, slightly crude Shizuka because she looks exactly like his late wife, Sumika (in flashbacks, also played by Hirosue).

They embark on a long-distance romance and eventually decide to marry. Both bring children to the union who have trouble adjusting to their new circumstances, but the main point of friction in the couple's new married life is their clash of "cultures."

Hirosue Ryoko and husband not divorcing

A family night-out on Hirosue Ryoko's birthday finally squashed rumours about the actress' supposed split from her husband, model-designer Hirosawa Takahiro, Mainichi News reports.

The couple married in 2003 and have one son. Rumours about the split came only a few months after the couple married. But the birthday celebration finally helped dispel the nasty rumours, as Hirosue, her husband and their son appeared to be enjoying their private family time together. After their dinner in a restaurant in Ebisu, they went to buy a birthday cake for Hirosue, then went to a karaoke bar (as suggested by Hirosawa).

Family birthday bash puts kybosh on Ryoko Hirosue marriage split rumors

Rumors that Ryoko Hirosue's rocky marriage to model-designer Takahiro Hirosawa is finally over have been firmly quashed following a lovey-dovey night out with the family to mark the actress's 27th birthday recently, according to Josei Jishin (8/7).

Hirosue and Hirosawa, who married in 2003 when the heartthrob actress fell pregnant, were rumored to have split within months of their union, with the comparatively low-earning model-designer sent off to fend for himself.

But the whispers have been dispelled after Hirosue, Hirosawa and their little boy spent a night out on the town on July 25.

Hirosue and her son collected Hirosawa from his Tokyo office and the family of three headed off to a posh pub in an exclusive part of the Ebisu district.

"We're gonna have mommy's birthday party tonight," Josei Jishin quotes Hirosawa telling his son before they headed inside.

Another customer at the restaurant says Hirosue's family stood out among the mostly older crowd, largely because the little boy's voice was loud and echoed throughout the establishment.

"Hirosue would feed the boy and ask him if it was yummy and he'd reply really loudly. There didn't seem to be much conversation going on between the couple and when they did talk, it seemed to be about their child," the customer tells Josei Jishin. "Hirosue talked a lot to the kid and fed him by hand. The husband watched her while she did it."

After dining for about an hour, Hirosawa suddenly sparked the family into action.

"I don't know whether it was because he was drunk or not, but his voice was really loud as he said, 'C'mon guys, let's go to karaoke. It'll be his first time,' he said, pointing at his son," another customer says.

The family stopped by at a nearby cake store, where they appear to have bought a birthday cake for Hirosue. Following that, it was on to a nearby karaoke joint, where they sang for an hour before stepping out and catching a cab home to their Tokyo apartment.

Josei Jishin says the whispers of Hirosue being a hair's breadth away from divorce couldn't have been further from the truth based on what happened for the actress's birthday. (By Ryann Connell)

    Hirosue Ryoko divorces

    Nooooo!!! Nagkatotoo na nga!

Hirosue Ryoko, Okazawa TakahiroActress Hirosue Ryoko (27) yesterday suddenly announced on her website that she and model/designer Okazawa Takahiro (32) are divorced. Following a recent pattern set by such celebs as actress Takeuchi Yuko and talento Chiaki, Hirosue will support herself as a single mother. She has custody of their 3-year-old son and Okazawa will not pay any alimony. Hirosue certainly shouldn't have any financial worries - she's appearing in two movies due for release this year, "Okuribito" and "Goemon"; she stars in the Fuji TV drama series "Yume no Mitsukekata wo Oshietaru" and has another role lined up for later in the year; and she currently has four commercial contracts, including Coca Cola and cosmetic maker Shiseido.

Hirosue's success of the last couple of years mirrors her huge popularity as one of Japan's top young stars in the late 1990s, though motherhood took her out of the scene for a year and a half in between. She got her start in 1994 by winning a contest sponsored by skin care brand Clearasil. She found success quickly, appearing in dozens of dramas and movies and debuting as a pop singer in 1997. She surprised everyone when she entered Waseda University in 1999 but ended up leaving without graduating after four years. At the end of 2003, she surprised everyone again when she announced that she was five months pregnant and engaged to Okazawa. But rumors of a split appeared in 2006 and they were living apart by the end of that year. One main reason for the divorce is said to be that they both have successful careers. Okazawa is an established fashion model and has been the poster boy for Nike. His own fashion brand CLS is one of the top names in the hip "Ura-Harajuku" area of Tokyo popular among young people. In January he opened a shop in Taipei which he designed himself. Japan-zone.com

    Hirosue chosen as "Miss Lily"

The International Flower Bulb Centre presented its 7th annual Miss Lily award on Wednesday, given to a celebrity who best matches the image of a lily. This year's recipient was actress Ryoko Hirosue, who seems to have kept her "pure" image despite a shotgun marriage with designer Takahiro Okazawa in 2003 and a subsequent divorce this past March.

Past honorees include Hitomi Kuroki, Takako Tokiwa, Yoshino Kimura, and Ryoko Yonekura (last year).

Hirosue win 1.2 million in defamation suit

Last spring, actress Ryoko Hirosue filed a lawsuit against publisher Shogakukan for alleged defamation. On Tuesday, a Tokyo court ruled in favor of Hirosue, awarding her 1.2 million yen in damages.

Shogakukan's weekly magazine Josei Seven had published an article in March 2007 claiming that Hirosue, still married at the time, was having an affair with an actor. Hirosue denied the rumors and subsequently took her complaint to court, demanding 23 million yen. The judge agreed that the article was very likely false and had negatively affected the actress' image. However, he also explained that the impact was not as significant as Hirosue claimed, given her prior reputation for being free-spirited. Tokyograph

    Ryoko Hirosue 'joins' motorcycle gang

Actress Ryoko Hirosue, 27, takes on the role of a motorcycle gang leader in her new TV drama “Yasuko and Kenji” which will be aired from July 12 on the NTV network.

Hirosue’s character falls in love with the ex-leader of another motorcycle gang, played by singer Masahiro Matsuoka, 31, but the two always end up fighting. Hirosue said, “I have a sore throat from shouting at him. It’s a real challenge for me to play a tough gang leader.” Matsuoka said, “If I were her manager, I wouldn’t let her play such a nasty role.” JapanToday

May isa akong mababaw na reason bakit ko syang gustong artista...kamukha kasi nya si Hisashi ng GLAY! Pero gusto ko rin naman sya as an actress. Not because she is uber good, though. There's just a refreshing aura about her.
