Video Tour Of Tokyo's 'Gamer Bars'

By Chris Kohler EmailSeptember 27, 2007 | 5:01:42 PMCategories: Culture, Japan

They have everything in Tokyo: even bars just for classic gamers. These aren't arcades, they're tiny little bars filled with 8-bit retro memorabilia and themed drinks. Renowned chiptune musician and friend of Game|Life Jason "6955" DeGroot is producing a new video series called Points for 1up, and his first episode takes us to 8-Bit Bar and 16 Shots, both in Shinjuku.

I've never been to 8-Bit, but I'm all about 16 Shots. The best part is, after a few, playing with the Pac-Man wind-up toys on the bar. Or watching the constant reel of old game commercials projected on the wall.
