Teacher pinched for fondling school girl's bottom on train A private junior high and high school teacher has been arrested for molesting a high school girl on a train in Tokyo, police said. Hideshige Miyazawa, 48, a teacher at Otsuma Junior High and High School in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, stands accused of violating a Tokyo metropolitan ordinance prohibiting people from creating a nuisance. He admitted to the allegations. Miyazawa fondled the buttocks of the 16-year-old victim on a train on the Tokyu Railway Denen-Toshi Line for about 10 minutes Tuesday evening, local police said. The girl managed to overpower him and forced him to get off at a station. Miyazawa attempted to escape but other passengers captured him on the platform. He was on his way home at the time of the incident. |

Princess Aiko doesn't bow. Wow. Pre-schooler Princess Aiko habitually commits a social faux pas many Japanese consider unthinkable -- she doesn't bow in greeting, notes Sunday Mainichi (10/21). Princess Aiko delighted many when she turned up to watch the sumo at the Ryogoku Kokugikan last month, especially after she burst into a beaming grin when her favorite grappler won. "I'm sure the angelic smile on Princess Aiko's face warmed the hearts not only of those at the Kokugikan, but also those watching on TV," a sumo beat reporter tells the Sunday Mainichi. But not everybody was happy with the 5-year-old princess's display in her second visit to watch the national sport, especially those who report on the cloistered world of the Imperial Family. One reporter on the royal beat complains about the young princess's reaction when Japan Sumo Association boss Kitanoumi went out to greet Princess Aiko and her parents, Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako as they arrived to watch the sumo. "Princess Aiko looked a little embarrassed and wriggled around nervously for a while. And she didn't bow," the Imperial Family beat reporter tells Sunday Mainichi. "She'll soon be an elementary school pupil and some people are of the opinion that she should be able to greet people properly." quote: CHEMNITZ, Germany — An exhibition of a unique collection of artworks by Bob Dylan, including variations of previously published drawings and sketches, has opened at a museum in this eastern German city. Visitors flocked to the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz museum Sunday to see the 170 colored versions of pictorial motifs by Dylan called, “The Drawn Blank Series.” The exhibit consists of drawings that Dylan produced between 1989 and 1992 and published in a book. Curator Ingrid Moessinger had 332 of the works specially reprinted and painted, and Dylan then selected 170 works for display. “Bob Dylan selected the works for the exhibit himself,” Moessinger said. The pictures show scenes from daily life: portraits of women and men, still lifes, cityscapes and other places that Dylan, 66, observed during his travels. The exhibit runs through Feb. 3. Art historian Frank Zoellner said the works reflect Dylan’s music. “The landscapes are very peaceful,” said Zoellner, while noting depictions of interiors often lacked a center, giving them a sense of restlessness. A guiding theme in the drawings are variations of the same motives — much in the way Dylan performs his music, Zoellner said. “On stage, Dylan never plays any song the same way twice,” Zoellner said.

The mummy of the 19-year-old pharaoh, whose life and death has captivated people for nearly a century, was placed in a climate-controlled glass box in the tomb, with only the face and feet showing under the linen covering.
