Dattebayo, Chihiro-Subs, Live-Evil and other fansubbers will engage in a new format panel at Otakon 2008 in Baltimore this weekend. Representatives and staff from several fansubbing groups, will engage in a live, moderated discussion with anime industry staff Lance Heiskell, Director of Marketing at FUNimation, and John Sirabella, CEO of Media Blasters, about fansubbing. This new format panel will be the one of the only times industry personnel and fansubbing staff have engaged in a public discussion about anime. We think it will be interesting and well worth your time at the convention. The panel takes place at Otakon 2008 on Saturday August 9 at 5:30 PM in panel room 4 and is scheduled to run an hour and a half. There will be a period of time allotted for questions and answers. As a special bonus, if you happen to run across one of the several Dattebayo staff members that will be attending the convention, they will have a limited number of DB buttons to give out to their fans/enemies. In addition, assuming FedEx comes through, they will have temporary tattoos with a brand new DB logo custom designed by their multi-talented translator rhole. Tattoos are not for sale in their store and will only be available at the convention. So if you see someone who is wearing or carrying a suspicious amount of Dattebayo merchandise, feel free to strike up a conversation. Hey am just thinking Chihiro might decide to send a staff there, i know it will be a great chance to meet those who helps you understand the animes you watch everyday. Not sure if you've seen it yet but here is the official poster for Dragonball the movie which is out 2009 March *Friday 13th*. Rear view of leading actor Justin Chatwin in orange gi with kame kanji The Sankei Shimbun paper has posted the first poster from the Dragonball live-action film that features a main character on Friday. The poster portrays Canadian actor Justin Chatwin (War of the Worlds, The Invisible, Lost television series), who stars as Son Goku, in his familiar orange gi martial arts uniform complete with the kanji for kame ("turtle" for his mentor Master Roshi or Kame Sennin) on the back. Just as in the previous teaser poster, the new poster's Japanese text reads when translated: "The legend comes to life." The new poster also adds the following text: "Opens worldwide at maximum speed on March 13, 2009." Twentieth Century Fox signed director James Wong (Final Destination, X-Files television series, The One) to adapt Akira Toriyama's shonen fighting manga. Viz Media publishes the original manga in North America, while Funimation distributes the anime version. Update: The second tagline can be translated as the following: "World's earliest opening [in Japan] on March 13, 2009."
